Where does greatness come from?

NII is supported by:

The Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides a platform for accelerating the pace of innovation in the nuclear industry and creating lasting local impact in the communities of Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.

Where does greatness come from?

NII Explore’s coding lessons support grades two to eight curriculum goals of patterns, problem-solving and literacy, helping rural students learn foundational skills that are key to working in a digital economy.

Education.

Lifelong learning through great experiences. NII Explore motivates students to unlock the potential of science and technology. NII Advance helps young adults and mid-career professionals acquire advanced skills for a 21st-century labour force.

Community.

Through environmental projects, SWERVE technology events and public policy outreach, NII helps our whole community understand the energy choices ahead.

Local nurses explore how the lifesaving medical isotopes created by companies in our region save lives. Balls representing cancer cells are magnetized and stick to the Lutetium-177 vest—just like medical isotopes seek out cancer during radiation treatments.

Watching a Boston Dynamics Spot robot “dog” go for a walk—and to work—at NII’s first-ever SWERVE event. This free festival was an opportunity to help people of all ages come to grips with the technological change our world is going through.

Innovation.

From data science to robotics and virtual reality, NII brings new technologies—and new ways of thinking—to solving real-world problems.

How do we foster greatness right here?

Convene + connect.

NII speaks up for the nuclear industry and its role in the clean energy transition. We inspire students and teachers with motivational education in science and technology. And we help people in our rural communities develop the skills and knowledge needed to participate in the workforce of the future.

NII has two streams of business: Industry innovation

Projects with Member companies to advance innovation in the nuclear industry by bringing new expertise and technologies to real-world problems.

Community impact

Creating a lasting local effect in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties through education and training, environmental projects and policy research.
