SYNOPSIS
A filmmaker arrives at a decrepit hotel, hoping to capture some element of its beauty before it is torn down. The Lawrence Hotel that comes to life on stage echoes the history of many of Toronto’s lost buildings, namely the Hotel Waverly - low-rise, lowcost housing, torn down in 2018. Along AJ’s journey to discover the hotel’s history, she meets some interesting patrons that make her question reality. While the characters’ lives unravel, so do the personal stories of our writers and actors, drawing parallels to their own motivations and struggles. How will AJ escape this downward spiral and leave the hotel?

Written by Beckett BarnettSynopsis
Within the Wings’ Shadows is an original play about Charlie's descent into loneliness, and the effort it takes to be in relationships with others. Charlie goes through life looking for people to connect with to fill the emptiness inside of him. At first his brother Oli suffices, but as he grows older Charlie pushes him away and resorts to toxic friendships and unhealthy relationships. When hit with the fleeting nature of life, he comes to realize that it takes effort to connect with others and that connection is the key to contentment. We invite our audience to reflect on their lives and contemplate the importance of their meaningful relationships.
