NOTARY IN THE EAST

According to the Notaries Public Rules of Singapore, a Notary Public is a senior lawyer with at least 15 years of experience practicing in Singapore, be at least 40 years old, and be appointed and approved by the Senate of the Singapore Academy of Law. Notaries Public Act Chapter 208, Section 8 lays out the rules regulating the services that Notaries Public perform. An independent and neutral Notary Public notarizes documents for overseas use on behalf of a foreign state. A foreign institution, including a bank, government agency, institution of higher education, or lawyer, may require assessment of the authenticity and proper execution of the documents submitted.
