A perfect evening saw a great turnout of local families for the combined Picnic in the Park and Summer Skate Jam in Prebbleton. Around 300 people descended on the Prebbleton Community Park on Stationmasters Way for the event. Skateboards, inline skates and scooters were to the fore on
the recently finished skate park, while families took to the park to enjoy other entertainment on offer, which included face painting, Pedalmania cycles, music and a sausage sizzle. The events were put on by Selwyn District Council as part of its Summer in Selwyn events programme. ¢

Fertilising my horse paddocks is now a breeze. I finally found a fertiliser that is limebased which can look after my pasture and my horse. I can even apply it myself and it is the easiest way to get lime on small lifestyle blocks. No big trucks needed and no white dust flying everywhere. “My test patch from the free sample is amazing - in 5 weeks the growth is beautiful.” It’s hard to get advice and suitable fertilisers for horse paddocks. Our blocks of land are usually too small for any fertiliser company to be bothered with. It can also be quite cumbersome to have a big heavy spreading truck manoeuvre its way around small paddocks with difficult gateways. Applying lime is essential on our horse paddocks, we know this, but I end up needing to put tons on and I only have 10acres. Then I found Equi-lise - a lime-based fertiliser that is pelletised. It is ideally suited to treating our horse paddocks. It is predominantly lime but it also has Magnesium, Phosphate, Sulphur,
and just a little bit of Selenium which are all biggies for keeping our horses healthy and sane. Because Equi-lise is finely ground and made into a pellet, it makes it highly plant available, meaning you need a much smaller amount to do the job. The pellets reduce the dust and mess of the job. I just hired a wee spreader for our four wheel motor bike, and did it all myself. It was a breeze. I finished the whole property in no time. “If you could have seen our little horse-sour paddock before and now”. I love how Equi-lise is all-in-one lime and fertiliser and helps to sweetens the pasture, encouraging the horses to graze the paddocks more evenly, recycling nutrients from dung and urine patches. I also like the fact that Equilise contains no synthetic chemicals or acids. A super easy, convenient and cost effective way of looking after my paddocks and making the most of the nutrients my horses deposit there.
