Waverly dairy shed The Middleton dairy farm milked 600 cows but with a view to expanding the herd, decided to call on the experience of the Herdflow® team to build a premium Herdflow® dairy shed and Crowd Gate at their Waverly farm The result is a premium Herdflow® dairy shed that is true to form with meticulous design coupled with exceptionally high engineering standards — the Middleton dairy shed has been built to last. The open front design includes an additional portal for added protection for the cows. Four clear lights per bay in the roof along with the Herdflow® signature large window in the back wall of the building provide near daylight conditions in the shed. A ridge vent and sliding doors promote exceptional airflow throughout the shed while still maintaining protection from the elements, particularly beneficial during the hotter months. Additional features include a 54-bail rotary milking platform with tunnel access through to the centre pit, a 2.5 metre clearance between the rotary platform and the wall, a raised office and vet room with drop down vet platform and separate pump room for very quiet working conditions. The Wrangler cow crush located under the front portal provides for sheltered working conditions along with two holding pens with circular forcing pen into load out race and/ or vet crush. The 12 x 60 metre collecting yard includes the Herdflow® Crowd Gate and automatic washing system.

Reducing stress on your cows, the Herdflow® Crowd Gate gently guides the herd towards the shed with all cows front facing allowing for easy cow flow and minimising foot problems.

Hot-dipped galvanised RHS construction and two lift motors for fail safe lifting are designed to meet the heavy demands and challenges of large herds. An automatic yard washing system installed on the Herdflow® Crowd Gate saves up to 400 labour hours annually. Cleaning the yard by simply hitting the wash button from the operator panel within the shed allows the Middleton’s to attend to other duties on the farm.
