February 2014 NORTHERN FARMING LIFESTYLES

HRV — A Northland icon
Not many people know it, but a well-known ventilation system that keeps thousands of kiwi homes warm and dry in winter is actually a Northland innovation. Former Whangarei Boys’ High School old boy Marcus Foote established HRV 11 years ago. Since then the company has gone from strength to strength and is a market leader in the fields of home dehumidifying and ventilation. “It’s a Northland success story,” says HRV Northland general manager, Brendon Fox. HRV has been coming to Northland Field Days for a number of years. Mr Fox says Field Days are a great opportunity to talk to homeowners and show them how an HRV system can keep them and their families healthier. “We like to take the product to the people. We’ll have a double stall at the Lifestyle Pavilion. We’ll have information on the product and consultants to talk with people.” It was an easy decision to return for Field Days in 2014. “Field Days are very, very, good for us. And it’s not just about sales. “It’s a chance to meet up with existing customers and hear from them.”
The team at HRV Northland is looking forward to being of service at Field Days
While Northland is one of the country’s warmer regions with mild winters and relatively hot summers, Mr Fox says those who believe that high moisture levels in our homes are not a problem are mistaken. “There are a lot of damp homes in New Zealand. We have the second highest asthma rate in the world. And one in four Northlanders live in a home that has high levels of humidity.”
For the world’s purest invironments At HRV, we’ve made it our mission to improve the health of New Zealand homes and those that live inside them.

An HRV system takes warm, dry air from the roof space, removes the moisture and distributes it throughout the house. The HRV filter also removes condensation, mould and mildew. Mr Fox says HRV will be repeating last year’s offer, with one lucky person to sign up for an HRV system at Field Days winning all their money back.
