In 1955 the passionate entrepreneur Bernhardt Sørensen founded Bernhardt Sørensen A/S, later to become the house of Clipper.

Bernhardt Sørensen’s passion for the finest quality and craftsmanship as well as his ability to spot the latest trends in materials – knitwear in particularis our foundation. We are proud of our legacy and our ability to move with the changes of time, while upholding both our traditions and our craftsmanship.

Specialised knowledge

Bernhardt started out by using highly specialised knitting mills located in small, local factories. A business model we still use to this day, with partners around the world carefully selected for their specialised knowledge and technical skills.

In 1982, the house of Clipper opened a factory in Herning and kept the production there until 1998. We still have our own factory, but today it is located in Latvia, and we produce most of our knitwear in Europe. Many things have changed since 1955, but our core skills are still the development, production, and distribution of classic quality knitwear.

As our focus is on quality and craftsmanship all our styles will have a longer lifespan, which contribute to reducing the fast-paced consumption. Break the cycle of buy and toss. Dress in clothes that are made in materials that has a lower environmental impact and in quality made to last. Thoughtful and intentional - slow fashion is one aspect of sustainability. Since most of our products are manufactured from wool, one of our main focus points is the welfare of the sheep. That’s why we use mulesing free yarns only as well as ethically sourced yarn.

Extra fine merino wool

This luxurious yarn is from Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia, the only truly Italian produced yarn left in the world and with more than 160 years of experience.

This unique quality is mulesing free, biodegradable and has been created with reduced use of water. With all the benefits of wool such as odour reducing and temperature regulating these styles are comfortable all year round. Made of 19.5 micron extra fine merino wool 2/30 yarn, which ensures a low pilling because of the extra-long fibres.

This range is perfect for the effortless daily wardrobe. Suitable and compatible with any outfit. Elegant with a shirt and a blazer and casual over a tee.

find your size for a perfect fit and great comfort

Once you have found your favourite new knit, you need to find the perfect size for a perfect fit.

Our measurement chart is based on your chest width. For greatest accuracy, please measure directly on your body and, if possible, have someone take your measurements rather than yourself. Measure around the fullest part of your chest - as shown on drawingkeeping tape under your armpits and around your shoulder blades.
