We will not compromise the history of the town, instead we will continue bringing history to life and celebrate the town they called ‘The World’.

Charters Towers has long been representative of North Queensland’s rich and diverse history. Now local developers, Goldtower Central, are paying homage to the town’s ancestral roots with the installation of a new bell tower that is attracting both businesses and visitors alike.

Inspired by the tower that sits beside the heritagelisted Lutheran Church, the bell tower stands over 17 meters in height and serves as the central precinct signage on the Flinders Highway. Owner of Goldtower Central, Paul Mclver says the monument is a true representation of how the business is committed to growing their new developments whilst keeping the town’s prosperous history alive.

“Goldtower is committed to giving the region new life by building statement pieces that will attract both business and visitors on a global and domestic scale,” explains Paul.

“We will not compromise the history of the town, instead we will continue bringing history to life and celebrate the town they called ‘The World’.”

The bell tower is the first to be erected in Charters Towers in more than a century and will ring loudly this month to mark the launch of their newly developed commercial precinct.

“We have taken a bold yet visionary ‘build it and they will come’ approach and already we are seeing incredible interest from possible tenants even as far away as Melbourne who are in discussion with us,” continues Paul.

“The future is ours and this precinct signage stands proud for all to see.”

The inaugural bell tower is only one of the many benefits the development is bringing to the region, with the Goldtower precinct already creating new regional business opportunities over the 20 hectares of land purchased on the eastern side of Charters Towers.

“Goldtower Central will be home to some of North Queensland’s most recognisable professional retail and industrial companies,” says Paul.

“The McIver family have been operating local businesses in Charters Towers since the 1980’s and I am thrilled to be contributing to the legacy through the building of Goldtower Central.

“We are working with the township to ensure that the town prospers in building and bringing new business to the region.”

Thanks to the community’s overwhelmingly positive response to the bell tower, construction has already commenced to erect another significant monument in the region, that is quite literally set to make Charters Towers the golden dot on the world map.

“Construction has begun on a stainless steel world that will be four meters in diameter and stand seven meters high, detailing every continent and marking Charters Towers as a must-visit place for travellers around the world,” says Paul.

“Charters Towers was once known to be ‘The World’ and now the world is literally coming.”
