The next generation of entrepreneurs are paving the way for the future of business in the region, developing their entrepreneurial thinking and creating innovative ideas and products. Now Townsville’s budding entrepreneurs are not only thriving but are playing a crucial role in shaping the future of business in the North.
For 17-year-old Declan Williamson, metal work was something that piqued his curiosity at a young age. As the owner and founder of Fantasy Smithing, Declan designs and creates custom jewellery pieces out of recycled metal materials.
After successfully pitching to Shark Tank judges Matt Higgins and Nicholas Stone in the Spill the Beans Pitchfest earlier this year, Declan is now in the process of creating two custom pieces for the American entrepreneurs and has since been engaged to create the trophies for the Spill the Beans contestants.

“Pitching to Matt Higgins and Nicholas Stone has definitely been the highlight in my career so far,” says Delcan. “In addition to the pieces I sell at the markets, I now have five orders from customers reaching as far as the USA, which is unbelievable.”

Nadia Suror, Henna by Nadia
Unbelievable is also the word that Nadia Suror uses to describe launching her business, Henna By Nadia. The 16-year old high school student has gained significant traction over the past year for her artistic flair and ability to create statement Henna designs.
“I started doing Henna in Grade Four and learnt from my close friends and relatives how to perfect the craft,” she explains. “Big cities have Henna artists readily available, but in Townsville, it’s a lot harder to find someone to do Henna for events and celebrations.”
Nadia has established a loyal and growing customer base at the local markets, and also offers personalised Henna bookings for events and celebrations.
“Sometimes I have to pinch myself because it’s incredible owning my own business,” she continues.
“It’s the best feeling seeing customers’ faces light up at the sight of my Henna, so I’m hoping to continue to grow and share with everyone the beauty of this art.” You can see both Declan and Nadia’s products at the monthly Friday Night Strand Markets.
