Section 8.2C above shall not apply to part-time employees. Part-time employees will be scheduled in accordance with the above rules, except they may be scheduled for less than eight (8) hours per service day and less than forty (40) hours per normal work week. Work schedules of part-time employees: Section 8.3 makes clear that the normal work week defined by Section 8.2C above applies only to full-time employees and not part-time flexible or part-time regular employees, who have no daily eight (8) hour or weekly (40 hour) guarantees. Moreover, the language in Article 7 (Section .1A2) which provides that part-time flexible employees "shall be available to work flexible hours as assigned by the Employer during the course of a service week," means that part-time flexible employees may be scheduled to work more or less than five (5) days per week and more or less than eight (8) hours per day. Part-time flexible employees are not required to “stand-by” or remain at home for a call-in or to call the facility in order to determine whether or not their services are needed on a day when they have not been scheduled for duty. Local management should attempt to schedule part-time flexible employees in advance wherever possible. Should a supervisor be unable to contact an employee whose services are needed, the employee merely remains nonscheduled for that day.
