The last edition of the national gold expeditions for this year took place in the Aberdares from 24th to 28th November. The venture involved over 250 participants from 10 Award institutions who braced the rain and the muddy conditions to prove that they are up to the task of covering the more than 80 Km journey in 4 days. The route saw them go through the Aberdare ranges on the Othaya side and experience the steep terrain that characterizes the ranges in the midst of rains on a daily

basis and muddy conditions of the route. Despite this the participants were not deterred and were in high spirits from start to finish. Congratulations to all the participants. The following were the institutions that participated:  Michuki Technical Training Institute had 6 bronze participants  Kiambu High School had 49 gold participants  KMTC had 1 gold participant  St John Ambulance had 7 gold and 5

Among some of the deliberations in the workshop was the need for youth organizations to engage more on issues affect-

ing the health of young people, HIV & AIDS, alcohol and drug abuse and the need for youth organizations to network and complement one another in their various . Also discussed was the need to involve the young people in the fight against alcohol and drug abuse and concentrate

N O V E M B E R M O N T H LY B R I E F BETTER CLASSROOMS IMPROVED LEARNING From 25th to 29th November participants from Kiambu High School and Tumu Tumu Girls School participated in a rehabilitation project at Ndabibi Primary School in Naivasha. The project saw the students cement two classrooms and a verandah as well as level up a trench which had been occasioned soil erosion. The project was made possible by one of the delegates from Bermuda (she participated in the IGE EXPEDITIONS
