Europe prepares for major fly fishing show More than 100 different exhibitors are preparing to show their wares at one of Europe’s biggest fly fishing shows in Germany this spring. The Experience the World of Fly Fishing (EWF) 2024 show will take place at the Event Forum in Fürstenfeld, near Munich in Germany from 13 to 14 April and is hoping to attract a large crowd of enthusiasts of the sport. As well as exhibitors, the show will host casting demonstrations and casting pools, supervised fly tying lessons, presentations from a wide range of industry experts, and the 17th Open German Fly Tying Championship. Tickets for the event cost €16 per adult for a single day, or €28 per adult for the weekend, while children under the age of 15 get free entry.

An all-too-familiar scene when fishing this winter – David Hoppe was glad of good waterproofs on this trip to Garnffrwd Fishery.

Start ‘em young Casting practice over the past few weeks paid off on this particular day for 11-year-old Anthony O Neill. He noticed this pike wreaking havoc on the roach population in the canal at Borris on the border of Carlow and Kilkenny, so put on a roach pattern fly and managed to capture his first pike on the fly. Well done, young man.

Chri Zu ended his fly fishing year with this lovely grayling near Innsbruck in Austria.
