Our History Northwest University was founded in 1934. It grew from a three-year to a four-year academic curriculum in 1948, and a Liberal Arts division was added in 1955. In 1973 Northwest gained regional academic accreditation. Northwest attained university status on January 1, 2005, at which time the institution’s name was changed from Northwest College to Northwest University. The 45,000-square-foot Donald H. Argue Health and Sciences Center, pictured at right, is the latest addition to the campus (along with the former headquarters of the Seattle Seahawks). Many of the classes in the Master’s Degree programs that are outlined in this publication are held in the Health and Sciences Center.
