about the ulp The Utility Lineworker Program is a 13week pre-apprenticeship program for students who have secured employment as electrical lineworkers with a partnering company in the power delivery industry. Throughout Northwest Lineman College’s history, utilities have enjoyed higher postapprenticeship retention rates and return on investments by recruiting candidates from their service territories and sending
them to Northwest Lineman College for pre-apprentice training. In addition, the graduates may receive advanced standing in their employers’ apprenticeship programs upon successful completion of the Utility Lineworker Program. When a participating company’s preapprentice shows up to the first day of training at NLC, we know that individual has embraced his or her company’s
brand by donning the company-issued personal protective equipment and FRrated clothing. We know that individual is prepared to represent the brand throughout the term. In fact, NLC has a specially prepared curriculum to help that employee exhibit the professionalism and adhere to the company’s mission and values. This, and more, is reflected in the program objective.
“You can always tell an NLC graduate; they are all of high character.” - Steve Trevino, Electric Superintendent (retired) Truckee-Donner Public Utility District
