During the general confinement period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 21st annual event was re-imagined to offer our community an uplifting diversion, while supporting local artists.

Art in the Garden Shorts

Local musicians and visual artists created videos from their gardens, sharing how they are inspired by nature, releasing new videos each week during the month. May 4 – 8 music video with Fraser Henderson (folk) artist talk/interview with Nicola Morgan video from visual artist Tiffany Blaise (oil painting) May 11 - 15 music video with Chris Dietrich (acoustic guitar) artist talk/interview with Pierre Leichner music video with Isabelle Boersig (piano) video from visual artist Hollis Nelson (leather painting) May 18 – 24 music video with Karen Fowlie Over 5,300 people were artist talk/interview with Paul Silveria reached through social video from visual artist Ari Lazer media platforms and the May 25 – 29 website. music video with Mehlinda Heartt artist talk with Ava Maria Safai video from visual artist Megan Spence

Art in the Garden Live

Saturday & Sunday, May 30 & 31 at 7pm Live-stream art & music collaborations on the original weekend scheduled for Art in the Garden via Instagram. Artists responded and created two artworks inspired by live music performances, all performed from their own, separate outdoor spaces. In partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival Film Circuit, we have been presenting Canadian and International films to our local audience since 2003. In 2018, we broadened the scope of the series to present short films by students in the Capilano University School of Motion Picture Arts programme. Student shorts preceded the feature films, including a Q&A with students.

North Van Arts partnered with the Army Navy Airforce Club #45 (ANAVETS 45) to present Jazz Sundays, bringing professional jazz musicians to the Lower Lonsdale area offering the community a professional live music experience. Programmed by Cory Weeds.
