2022 Fish Committee Wraps Up The Year

year. So we’ll need donations more than ever. Thanks to Rick for helping keep the cost steady this year. If you need something negotiated, call Rick.
and donors enough for all your help. It really makes a huge difference in what we can accomplish.
Fishermen were anxiously lined up to watch fish being released into Lake Thunderhead. Many were on hand for the event which included helping with the release.
As visions of sugar plumbs dance in your head this holiday season, the fish committee is thinking back on another successful year, and planning for a great 2023.
This year the committee ran 2 very well attended bass tournaments and the second annual Kids’ Fishing Derby. All three events were very successful.
This spring’s bass tourney brought in multiple boats with their limits of very nice fish. A huge 50/50 drawing and more. This fall’s tourney included nearly 20 boats, which is great for the fall. Our scrumptious meal was back again after a couple of year absence due to covid. Everyone seemed to enjoy the tasty food. Food was so popular at the Kids’ Derby that we ran out. All the fish committee guys and
gals had left to eat at the end was cookies. What a shame!
This fall a lake resident generously donated a dock for the Kids’ pond, which we got anchored and reinforced. It should make next year’s derby even more fun.
Of course we are very much indebted to our most generous sponsors and donors, without whose support we couldn’t run these
events or fund our stocking program. We do our best to thank everyone along the way during the year, but inevitably we miss someone. So if we haven’t publicly thanked you, please let us know.
We believe we only have one outstanding donation to thank and that would be Dave Diamon who generously donated at our walleye release. So thanks Dave!!!
If you are interested in
Speaking of the walleye release, we had another great turnout to help with the release back in very early November. The fish came a little earlier than usual this year. We released 4000 walleyes again this year. We’ve been stocking 4000 yearly now for the past several years, after an extended period of stocking every other year. Which explains why we have such a tremendous walleye lake! Thanks for all who helped with the stocking and/or donated to the cause. Oh by the way, the cost of the walleyes is expected to go up next
Next year we plan to have a similar event calendar to this year. In addition to the tourneys, derby and stockings, we’ll have another lake clean up day in the spring, sometime just before turkey season. We also hope to have assistance from the Dept of Conservation to do shockings and nettings to determine how our fish populations look in light of our recent stockings of walleye and wipers. We may also have a fish habitat event wherein we work together to get some more habitat in the lake.
Again, we can’t thank our many volunteers
However, before we close, we’d be amiss if we didn’t thank our hardworking fish committee members for all of their efforts during the year. The team is really running smoothly, with great ideas and extra effort coming from everyone, even BEN. Special thanks to our spouses who jump in to help wherever they can and do a great job!
So thanks again everyone. It’s been a great year, with lots of tremendous events, tons of fabulous fish caught and lots of camaraderie. Here’s to an awesome holiday season for all and a great 2023!
Tight lines everyone!!!

Flag Pole - Purchasing of Bricks
This coming spring a new flagpole will be erected near the dam of Lake Thunderhead. This flagpole will be approximately 100’ tall with a 20’x30’ U.S. flag. This flag will be lighted and will become a focal point on the lake.
As part of this project, memorial or commemorative bricks will be installed at the base of the flagpole. Lake members will have the opportunity to purchase a memorial brick, which are 4”x8” or 8”x8” with inscriptions of their choice. Cost of the bricks are $150 for a 4”x8” brick and $300 for an 8”x8” brick. Please note that all lettering on the bricks must be capital letters.
To purchase a brick, individuals can either go to the Lake Office, complete a form located there and pay at the office.
The second option is to go to www.bricksrus. com/donorsite/thunderhead completing the online form, paying by credit card or take payment to the lake office. Please note that the lake office must receive payment in order for the online form to be submitted.
Orders for bricks must be submitted and paid for by March 31, 2023 at which time all orders will be submitted to the
vendor for production. Installation of the bricks at the base of the flagpole will then be completed by Memorial Weekend 2023.
Funds raised from the sale of the memorial or commemorative bricks will be used by various lake committees, all of which have goals for Lake Thunderhead improvements and activities.
It is with excitement that this project will be another great addition to

The United States and its currency seem inseparably linked, but for much of the country’s history, an official, standardized U.S. dollar didn’t exist. In its place was a Wild West of currencies from competing banks located across several states. In their zeal to earn goodwill and customers, a few of these institutions even minted
some rather creative banknotes. These bills didn’t feature the chiseled visage of General Washington or other real-life American leaders, but instead the pudgy, bearded face of St. Nick, among other figures.
True or False, Franklin D. Roosevelt appeared on the $10,000 bill, the largest U.S. note ever circulated.
For the St. Nicholas Bank of New York City, featuring the bank’s namesake on its currency made some sort of sense. But other banks, seemingly unaffiliated with Father Christmas, also issued Santa money. For example, the Howard Banking Company issued its Sinter Klaas note in the 1850s, which depicted a St. Nick scene
from Dutch legend. A total of 21 banks in eight states created notes featuring Santa Claus, with seven of them even printing an entire Santa Claus vignette on their currency. These fun funds came to an end in 1863, when the National Bank Act created a national currency in an effort to standardize bank-
ing throughout the U.S. While these Santa bills are now considered “obsolete,” the notes remain highly prized in certain collecting circles and are doing much more than just ho-ho-holding their value.
ANSWER:
Incorrect.
It’s a Fib
While Roosevelt’s face graces the dime, it’s Treasury Secretary and Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase whose visage adorns the $10,000 bill. However, in 1969, the U.S. Treasury purged the $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 bills from circulation (they still remain legal tender).

Riparian Rights –Tiffany reported account is dormant, and in June 2023 we will have to pay to continue account. Ced is going to talk to remaining parties to get resolved.
Cemetery Property – 4 or 5 houses at South end of Falcon. The homes bordering the cemetery property have their drives connected to a small lane and have asked for several years if they could buy the small parcel of Association land adjacent to their property/lane.
Board is reviewing
how to sell with these stipulations, width of property, put deed restriction that can’t be sold separate, only as part of original land. Property owner of lot only allowed to buy. All expenses including surveys would be at homeowners expense, including if any fee for an appraisal.

Water billing
Offsite boundaries/ structure
6:10 pm Motion to adjourn by Cody Veach, seconded by Kerrie Rose, Cody adjourned the meeting.
•Plan to water every 2 to 3 weeks, but only water when the top one third of soil feels dry to the touch. For example, if the plant is in 6 inches of soil, water when the top 2 inches feel dry. (Use your finger to check!)
•When the soil is sufficiently dry, soak the soil until water runs through the pot’s drainage holes. Place a tray underneath the pot to catch the water. After 10-15 minutes, discard any excess water in the tray so that the pot doesn’t sit in water.
•It’s especially important to water well while the plant is flowering.
•From spring through early fall, feed every 2 weeks with a balanced houseplant fertilizer. During the fall and winter, feed the cactus monthly to encourage successful blooming.
• Prune plants in late spring to encourage branching and more flowers. Simply cut off a few sections of each stem; the plant will
branch from the wound.
• If you wish, place the cut pieces in a lightly moist potting soil—they root easily after a few weeks and make for excellent Christmas presents!
If your cactus is NOT blooming, it may be receiving too much light or too-high temperatures. Here are some tips to encourage yours to produce flowers!
•To trigger blooming, nights need to be at least 14 hours long and days between 8 to 10 hours for at least six weeks. If you have strong indoor lighting that’s on at night, you may need to cover your cactus or move it to an area that’s exposed to the natural light cycle.
•Flower buds form best when the plant is kept in temperatures be-
tween 50 and 60°F (10 and 15°C).
•You can kickstart the budding process by exposing the plant to temperatures of about 45°F (7°C) for several nights in a row.
•Make sure that you are consistent with wa-
tering while the plant is in flower. If the plant dries out too much, it may drop its buds.
If the cactus sheds its buds one winter, don’t worry: it should bloom the following year!
