Pete Swims Channel and Raises £12,000 for Penny Field Having trained for two years, Pete Windridge-France from Horsforth recently completed his cross Channel swim in the great time of 17hrs,18 minutes – despite encountering an eel, shoals of glow fish, hundreds of jellyfish, and being followed by a lonely seal! Pete undertook the swim to raise money for Penny Field Special School on Tongue Lane in Meanwood, where his severely disabled son Archie (8) is a pupil. He set out to raise £8,000 but to date has raised just shy of £12,000! It is

hoped, with the help of The Variety Club, to purchase an adapted minibus for the school. Penny Field is one of five schools

in Leeds providing solely for pupils with Special Needs. There is still time to show your support for Pete and Penny Field - just visit www.justgiving.co.uk/peteswims
