HEAD FOOTBALL COACH TRAVIS MARTIN

Holding a bachelor’s degree in chemistry education from Mayville State University, Martin went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in coaching from North Central University. Coach Martin, his wife Krista, and infant daughter Khloe reside in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. ■

Martin began his college playing career at Dakota College where he was a receiver for the Jacks in 2008 and 2009. Martin also

spent two years as an outfielder on the college baseball team. While competing at Dakota College, Martin was academic all-conference in football and baseball. After completing his AA degree at Dakota College, Martin transferred to Mayville State University (North Dakota) where he was a tight end for the Comets in 2011 and 2012. Martin was named to the Academic AllAmerica team his senior year.

HEAD COACH TRAVIS MARTIN

Travis Martin became the ninth football coach at Northland Community and Technical College in January of 2015. The Grand Forks native takes the reins of the Pioneer football team at an opportune time in the history of the program. Following the suspension of the football program at Northland during the 2014-2015 school year, the program reopens this season under Coach Martin who is tasked with resurrecting the Pioneer football program.

Prior to his arrival in Thief River Falls, Coach Martin spent two years as the offensive coordinator at Dakota College (Bottineau). The 2013 season touted an 8-3 record and a bowl appearance in the Salt City Bowl where the Jacks were defeated by Hutchison Community College (Kansas). Repeating an 8-3 record in the fall of 2014, Dakota College gained a national ranking and qualified for the Graphic Edge Bowl, where they were defeated by Ellsworth Community College (Iowa). During his tenure at Dakota College, Coach Martin also assumed the duties of head baseball coach in the 2013-2014 year, where he increased the squad size from 11 players to 25 team members and garnered a third place finish in the region.
