I
have to admit, I’m a sucker for Valentine’s Day. I totally get into this celebration of love. I like to think of it as a day to celebrate not just romantic love, but love of family and friends too. When my kids were little, we used to set up a mailbox for each family member for the first half of February. In each we would deposit little love notes to each other and then read them all on Valentine’s Day. Some notes were especially sweet like “thank you for working so hard Daddy”; others were adorable, failed attempts at poetry like this one from my son who had never been to Europe: “Mom, I love you in Rome, I love you in London. Well, I love you everywhere I guess.” But cuddling up with fun picture books is another great way to spend the cold, end-of -winter days of February with our little ones.
