THOMAS MORE COLLEGE POLES APART

Thomas More College was established in 1979 as a Regional Catholic School, servicing families in the North. Many changes have occurred over the past 42 years, including a substantial growth in numbers of students and staff, as well as the physical expansion and renovations of the College.

However, the vision remains. The College’s commitment is to equip students with the skills that will translate to all manner of industries and circumstances and enable students to thrive beyond school. In 2020, the College’s focus on Learner Behaviours encouraged the identification of potential within learning areas, to embrace opportunity and thrive in our changing world.

The Salisbury Council initiative, Poles Apart, provided Year 10 Visual Art students with the perfect opportunity to embrace change and have the courage to develop, create and display a public artwork along the Salisbury Highway.

Students worked on the brief for several weeks before presenting a vision of their artwork to local businesses.

Having the chance to realise their work in a real-life situation has taught them invaluable lessons and fostered a strong connection to our community.

“At Thomas More our commitment is evident in all that we do to enable our students with the skills to have the Wisdom to Seek, Courage to Thrive and Power to Change.”
