Enjoying the Journey

YYour clients are on a trek into uncharted territory. They take a great deal of comfort in knowing that you are there at their side.

That’s an area that means a lot to Lauren Moore, too.

As a REALTOR® with Compass on Scott Jackson’s team in the Lakewood Office, Lauren enjoys the journey.

“The best part of what I have the opportunity to do in this business is that for a short period of time, you get to be involved with people and their families,” Lauren says.

“You get to know people, to be part of their lives … and to stay part of their lives.”

A Glimpse Ahead

of the needs that her clients have. Her family moved around quite a bit over time.

Eventually, she and her family settled in Dallas when her father was transferred to the Lone Star State for his job. At the time, she was in high school.

When it was time for college, Lauren moved on to Texas Tech. Once she graduated, Lauren moved back to Dallas, where she worked for 15 years in advertising and marketing in the fine jewelry industry, starting with the Zale Corporation.

She also worked with other ad agencies and marketing companies that served the jewelry industry.

“As part of that, I traveled around the world working with jewelry designers, manufacturers, and retailers,” Lauren says.

Setting Out on a New Path

In time, Lauren started her family and made some changes in her work life.

“I changed agencies three weeks before my first child was born. In 2002 I was working from home for the ad agency,” Lauren remembers.

“After two years into that, the company said we need to have you spend more time in the office, and I realized that arrangement wouldn’t work for my family.”

Lauren was a stay-at-home mom for a time. In the meantime, she and her husband maintained a bond they had built with REALTOR® Scott Jackson.

“We watched the neighborhood, and I would call him and let him know that a house was going to sell. One day, I saw that he had someone else’s name on his sign,” Lauren says.

“I called him and said I might want to get into real estate. He agreed that it was a good idea. He let me know that he was creating a team and was able to take me on in a couple of months.”

After beginning her real estate career in 2006, Lauren kept learning, growing, and gaining momentum with her career.

Family Fulfillment

Away from work, Lauren’s world is made much richer by her family, including her husband, Steve, and their two sons — Matthew, who is in college, and Charlie, who is a senior in high school.

In her free time, Lauren and her family are Charlie’s biggest basketball fans.

In addition, Lauren has enjoyed staying engaged in her boys’ schools. Along the way, she has chaired the school carnival and has served as a room mom. Plus she has also started a book club and a mahjong club.

Staying active is also a big part of life for her. Lauren and Steve play sand volleyball. Plus, they have a golden retriever that they enjoy walking. Lauren and her family are also big Texas Tech football fans. In addition, Steve is very involved with the East Dallas Chamber of Commerce as President Emeritus.

Passionate Pursuits

Lauren’s qualities as a person and professional have enabled her to build and grow success for herself and those around her through the years.

“I hope they see that we really try to prioritize service and caring for others,” Lauren points out. “I always want to do the right thing … being a good friend to other people. We want them to know that we are here for them for years to come.”

That kind of engagement happens when you have a passion for what you do … when you are truly enjoying the journey with those you serve.

Out of all of the parts of your skillset that you have built through your real estate career, one of the most durable and important ones is dependability.

When your clients know they can count on you, they will continue to call on you.

That’s a truth that is exhibited each day by Jerry Mooty.

As CEO, principal, REALTOR®, and attorney for the Texas franchise of @ properties Christie’s International Real Estate, Jerry is a prime example of trusted expertise.

“Through time, It’s always been very important to me that I hold myself to high standards and high integrity,” Jerry says. “Doing what I say is very important to me.”

Taking His First Steps Ahead

Jerry was born and raised in Springfield, MO, and came to SMU to play football in 1988.

“I’ve been here ever since,” Jerry says with a smile. “From there, I went to South Texas College of Law in Houston, and then I worked for a large Dallas law firm for a few years.”

In 1998, Jerry founded his own law firm, growing it to 60 lawyers in several cities over 14 years. He also spearheaded several ventures on behalf of the partners during that time, including a legal support business called Complete Legal and a real estate development firm by the name of TreVista Group.

“Eventually, I ended up selling my interest in the law firm to follow my entrepreneurial spirit,” he remembers. “I founded Blue Star Payments, which was rebranded Blue Star Sports after merging with a small tech company focused on youth sports technology companies. Once that company was sold to a large VC firm, I had a great experience working for a health tech company founded by Jeff Arnold, who founded WebMD. But real estate was always calling.”

Opening a New Door

During the spread of COVID-19, Jerry studied every brokerage in the Dallas metroplex while earning his real estate license in June 2020. He has spared little time in making his presence known and making a positive impact on those around him.

“I love the people in real estate. For the most part, they seem to be in a good mood and want to get a deal done. They also have a very entrepreneurial spirit,” Jerry says. “I like the fact that, when you’re dealing with someone in this business, you’re generally dealing with someone who can get things done.”

The record of results that Jerry is building continues to grow quickly.

“We are technically a startup since we started with just me. But several agents joined me quickly, and we have powerhouse support from @properties (franchiser), which was founded 20-plus years ago and provides the best technology I have seen in the industry. We have grown to more than 50 agents in 16 months and opened the Frisco office in December 2022 with huge plans for North Dallas,” Jerry says.

Rewarding Life

Along the way, his new brokerage recorded an impressive total of $150 million in sales volume during its first 12 months.

Away from work, Jerry’s world is made much richer by his family, including his wife, Samantha, who is a Highland Park Middle School Counselor.

Jerry and Samantha help raise his two sons, who are both at the University of Texas in Austin — Val, who is a junior at the McCombs School of Business, and Luke, who is a freshman at the Moody School of Communication.

In their free time, Jerry and Samantha have a passion for traveling with Val and Luke, socializing with friends and caring for their dogs, Captain Jack and Marlee May. In addition, Jerry loves playing tennis and pickleball.

When it comes to giving back, Jerry is on the board of directors for the Lewis Family Foundation, which focuses on veterans and ex-athlete charitable organizations. He was recently added to the advisory board for Baylor, Scott and White — Centennial.

Building Forward

As Jerry reflects on his career and the plans for continued growth and service in the years to come, he is reminded of the example he learned growing up from his grandfather, Pat Jones.

“My grandfather was a very driven person, always did what he said, followed his heart, and was a pillar in the community,” Jerry remembers.

“As I look back, his life took many paths similar to what is happening in my life. He started with grocery stores in North Little Rock called Pat’s Grocery. Then he started the first life insurance company in the state of Missouri, Midwest Securities, which he took public in the 60s. He eventually followed his true passion and love of animals to open the first drive-through zoo called Exotic Animal Paradise, which he owned and operated until he passed in the mid1990s. He was a true inspiration.”

The impact that one individual can have on the world around them is remarkable. Jerry Mooty is a prime example of that dynamic.

He has added tremendous real estate success in a relatively short time — on top of his remarkable, overarching career. All along the way, a common denominator in that success has been his trusted expertise.
