Space Heating

• Wastes energy and money (costing money to heat water even when you’re not using hot water) • Takes up valuable space • Your supply of hot water is limited by the size of the tank • Potentially can cause thousands of dollars in water damage if the tank leaks • Not environmentally friendly (60-65% efficient, landfills get piled up with old, bulky tanks) • Parts are not easily repairable or replaceable • Rust and sediment form inside the tank, along with the risk of legionella bacteria • Recommended maintenance requires you to empty the entire tank • Uses a pilot light, which may ignite and cause an explosion • 8-10 years life expectancy

Noritz advanced technology is backed by over 50 years of development.

• Eliminates energy and money waste- save about 50% more on your energy costs than a tank water heater • Takes up less space since it is wall hung • Never runs out of hot water • Minimizes water damage risk since there is no tank • Does not have a pilot light or standby heat loss • Does not store and reheat water • Environmentally friendly (83-94% efficiency levels) • Majority of the components can be recycled • Parts can be easily replaced • Lasts longer and more durable than tank type water heaters

• Initial high cost investment • Minimum flow requirement to activate unit (0.5 GPM) • Since it is an on-demand system the unit takes a few seconds to activate the burner • Will not work during power outages (back-up power systems are available)

A tankless water heater heats water on demand, so that means no storage or shortage of hot water. Imagine the luxury of always having hot showers or filling up a Jacuzzi hot tub and still having an endless supply of hot water for the rest of your needs.

With a Noritz tankless water heater, you’ll save energy and thus, money. Furthermore, you can save about half of the cost of your current water heating bills since there is no re-heating of water as with traditional water heaters. A Noritz heats water as it passes through the unit, so you will never have to use hot water that has been stored in an old, rusty tank.

Compact in design, a Noritz can be installed virtually anywhere. Compared to traditional tank-type water heaters, one of the most obvious differences is its small size.

Noritz tankless water heaters are extremely durable, lasting longer than traditional tank-type water heaters, and require little maintenance over their lifetime. Noritz wants you to feel confident using our products so we back all residential heaters with one of the best warranties in the industry.

The hot water capacity of an electric tankless water heater is typically not enough for an entire house. Most larger sized electric tankless units require 240 V and over 100 Amps. As a reference, the amperage amount required by an electric tankless is about 5 times more than a typical air conditioning system in a home! Because of this, gas tends to be a more cost-effective fuel and heats water about 50% faster than most electric models, yielding a higher flow rate. Also, electric tankless water heaters do not qualify for the ENERGY STAR Program.

Hot water from a traditional tank-type water heater comes from the stored water in the tank. As the hot water supply is used, cold water enters the tank to replace the hot water that was used, reducing the temperature gradually. Once 60-70% of the stored hot water is used, there will be a significant drop in temperature and can take about an hour to recover.

Although tank water heaters are insulated to some extent, they still experience standby heat loss causing the unit to constantly heat and reheat the stored water even when the hot water isn’t being used. Water heating is the second largest energy cost in the home, so heat lost from the tank is wasted energy and can add up quickly.

As years pass, traditional tank-type water heaters start to rust and build-up scale inside the tank, which is where your hot water is being stored for use. Also, there is the risk of legionella bacteria formation.

Water heating can account for 14-25% of the energy consumed in your home and is the second largest energy expense in U.S. households. It’s actually one of the least efficient appliances due to standby heat loss. With the constant storing and heating of the water in the tank, sediment begins to build-up and in time will cause a malfunction of the unit. Typically if your tank water heater warranty is near its end or already past, the sediment build-up may be at a point where it’s only a matter of time before the unit breaks down and can possibly cause major water damage.

Because of the storage tank, traditional tank-type water heaters are bulky in size. It takes up valuable space and also limits where the unit can be placed. A traditional tank-type water heater takes up to 13ft2 of space. If 1ft2 is worth $200, that’s $2,600 (13ft2 x $200) worth of space you could be saving with a Noritz. Also for some, the unit can also be unsightly.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) tankless water heaters with an .82 Energy Factor are expected to save a consumer approximately $108 in annual energy costs compared to a typical gas storage water heater. Energy Factor is a measurement of relative energy efficiency for a water heater; the higher the Energy Factor, the more energy efficient the water heater.

In five years, the DOE states that Americans can save $780 million in utility costs, avoid 4.2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and achieve cumulative energy savings of more than 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours and 270 million therms natural gas by using high efficiency water heaters.

With the ever growing concern over the threat of Global Warming, the time to take action is now. By taking a few simple steps in reducing greenhouse gas, we can all make a difference and reduce the effects of Global Warming. Noritz tankless water heaters are 83-94% efficient which reduces over 700 lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions per heater each year. This reduction compared to tank heaters greatly reduces green house gases and global warming.

Noritz units are drastically smaller than a storage tank. The main components of Noritz tankless water heaters are recyclable and every part is replaceable. Therefore, Noritz significantly reduces the amount of waste material that ends up in landfills every year.

Polar bears are drowning. A drastic climate change in the Arctic due to Global Warming is accelerating the melting of the ice. Scientists, for the first time, have documented multiple deaths of polar bears off Alaska, where they likely drowned after swimming long distances in the ocean amid the melting of the Arctic ice shelf. Some scientists predict polar bears could become extinct within the next century because they have adapted over the millennia to only hunting on ice. If they try to swim in disappearing ice conditions to catch seals, more are likely to tire and drown, scientists say. In order to help save the polar bear population Noritz is reducing the emissions of green house gases and thus reducing the effect of Global Warming.

The newly designed burner gives Noritz units stable combustion over a wider range of water flow. The burners maximize output and provide temperature stability while maintaining low emissions.

The heat exchanger was re-engineered to increase thermal efficiency. The piping is 25% thicker to help prevent condensation and erosion to ensure a longer life.

The addition of a protectant coat to the PC board provides greater durability allowing a Noritz tankless water heater to last longer, even when exposed to the elements. Also, the on-board memory chip stores the error code history for easy maintenance monitoring to ensure your heater runs efficiently.

Noritz Fully Modulating Burners Noritz tankless boilers, the NH series, have borrowed the full-modulation burner technology from its tankless water heaters and applied the same technology. Full-modulation gives excellent turn down ratios and tracking of system demand. This equals less wasted energy and better comfort for the homeowner. The Noritz boiler is equipped with a fully modulating burner that tracks the needs of the system precisely and provides only the amount of energy required to maintain the system’s set point. This reduces the amount of times the boiler has to turn on and off, dramatically reducing wear and tear on moving parts in the system such as thermostatic controls, pumps and automatic valves. Zone controls and valves also have to work less. Overall, this highly efficient methodology can equate to less fuel consumption to satisfy the same demand! In combination with a highly efficient heat exchanger, Noritz uses this technology to provide the utmost in operating efficiency.

Noritz is the first manufacturer whose tankless water heaters received the prestigious ASME Code Symbol Stamps HLW, and NB as being certified in compliance with the ASME BPV Code.

Commercial hot water applications are paramount for Noritz. With the ASME certification, strong R & D, and unique features, Noritz offers the only true commercial tankless water heaters.

Noritz is the first commercial tankless water heater manufacturer certified by the National Sanitary Foundation (NSF), which makes Noritz the best choice for any restaurant or business needing hot water.

When multiple heaters are connected, the System Controller cuts down the wear and tear on the heaters by rotating the primary heating unit after eight hours of use.
