Noordwijk is easy to reach. Big cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague are close at hand. So too are Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam The Hague Airport.

Noordwijk is located centrally in the Randstad and is easily accessible, with multiple roads to the A44 highway. There are several bus lines from transport company Arriva connecting Noordwijk with train stations like Leiden Central, Den Haag Central, Voorhout and Sassenheim, and the two bigger train stations Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Central Station.

Beyond space and air travel, the technological discoveries that take place here are applied in sectors such as communication, navigation, meteorology, astronomy and physics. This makes the Netherlands one of the countries with the most advanced developments in space travel internationally. The Space Technology industry organizes numerous large and small conferences each year, many of which are held in Noordwijk.

Space expo

Those who want a place in the sun can go to Space Expo. About 15 years ago, this centre was set up as a visitor centre of ESTEC and has, since then, already welcomed millions of visitors. The permanent exhibition gives an idea of the development of the aerospace industry and the exploration of the universe. Space Expo offers all the necessary facilities to organize a meeting. There are several rooms and reception areas on site, including an auditorium for 130 people.

There are many international space technology conferences every year. Many of these conferences take place near all the action, in one of the four or five star hotels of the seaside conference resort of Noordwijk. The location of the seaside resort, near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and the city of The Hague, makes it a good base. Noordwijk has experience being the base for large international events such as the NSS world summit. During the NSS summit two of the most important world powers chose Noordwijk as their base, setting the conference location in the limelight of world media for a week. The US delegation with President Barack Obama stayed at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin and the Chinese delegation with President Xi Jinping chose the five star Hotels van Oranje nearby. Conference hotels the Radisson Blu Palace Hotel and NH Leeuwenhorst also received important delegations and diplomats during the summit. The US channels ABC, CNN, NBC and FOX broadcast their NSS reports from Noordwijk.

Interior designers of ‘Klooster | events, art & design’ have set up an events venue and art & design gallery in the former Kerk en Kapel aan Zee (Church and Chapel on Sea) in Noordwijk.
