A community divided All is not well in the Kgobudi community north west of Mokopane. Some community members say they are being prevented from burying their dead in the communal cemetery and denied proof of residency stamps by the local Induna because they are opposed to the way mineral prospecting was conducted on their communal land. Jan Mantla, chairperson of the Kgobudi Community Forum, explains that people need a stamp from the local Induna or headman to prove their residency when they wish to open a bank account or purchase a sim card for a cellphone for Fica and Rica purposes. According to some community members, the Chief allegedly refuses to stamp papers for members of the Community Forum. It all started on 26 September 2010 when John Kekana signed an agreement on behalf of the community with Platreef Resources, allowing the mining company to proceed with prospecting activities for platinum in his village. John Kekana is the local Induna, but his appointment in this position is being disputed by the Forum. He is, however, endorsed by the Kgosi or Chief for the Mokopane tribal area, Victor Kekana. Links: Phillimon Magwai het soos Madiba hierdie week verjaar, maar is op 93 'n jaar jonger as die voormalige president. Hy was een van die bejaardes wat 'n warm kombers by die Ellisras Oupas en Oumas groep in Marapong ontvang het.

The Limpopo Department of Agriculture celebrated Mandela Day by visiting the Nailane Vegetable Project at the Kauletsi village, 85 km from Lephalale. The six hectare project produces tomatoes, spinach, beetroot, cabbage, onion and butternut for the local market and individuals in need. The project has created two permanent and six temporary jobs for members of the local community. Members of the department and officials of the Lephalale municipality spent their 67 minutes for Mandela day by working at the project.

Woman protects child, stabbed LEPHALALE - Three men were arrested on Sunday evening for assaulting a woman and her child at the Shongoane taxi rank in Lephalale. The woman told Northern News that the men approached her and her husband and tried to take their daughter (3). A scuffle ensued and the woman was stabbed with a knife. She managed to flee with her daughter while Molalaltua Security guards chased and arrested the suspects.

Children injured in accident LEPHALALE - Eight people, including four children were injured last Friday afternoon when their vehicle veered off the road to avoid a collision with a stationary vehicle on the old Vaalwater road a few kilometers from Molalatua Lodge. According to Molalatau Security’s Andries Bester several beer bottles were found at the scene. Reaction units from both the police and emergency services were on the scene within minutes. The victims, most of whom were at the back of the canopied vehicle, sustained fractures and were taken to Ellisras Hospital.

Arrested for dumping text books A clerk accused of dumping 700 textbooks meant for Limpopo pupils has been released on R2 000 bail. Glen Kubayi, 44, a clerk at the Giyani regional office of the Department of Education, was not asked to plead to a malicious damage to property charge when he appeared in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. He was arrested after 700 textbooks meant to be delivered to some Limpopo schools were found dumped at a river in Giyani on June 29. The textbooks included Mathematics for Gr. 8 and Numeracy in Sepedi for Gr. 3. Police say more arrests are expected.

Die huurtribunaal in Pretoria kan ook aan huurders raad en regsadvies gee indien hulle voel dat hulle onregverdig behandel word.” Hoewel die volhoubaarheid van die groeiende huurmark bevraagteken word is een ding baie duidelik - daar is tans geleentheid vir huiseienaars om voordeel te trek uit die groeiende aanvraag na behuising in Lephalale. Dit is darem jammer dat oud-president Nelson Mandela moet verjaar sodat ons as Suid-Afrikaners bestekopname kan doen van wat ons die afgelope 22 jaar sedert sy vrylating in ons land bereik het. Wat dit erger maak is dat so ‘n bestekopname dan dui op erge agteruitgang in sekere fasette van ons samelewing. In 2004 het die meerderheid landsburgers vir die eerste keer in hul lewe gestem en die ANC regering onder leiding van President Mandela het sonder te veel drama oorgeneem en aangegaan waar die vorige regering opgehou het. Teen 2005 is al wat Suid-Afrikaner was, ongeag kleur, godsdiens of politiek hand-om-die-nek besig om saam met Madiba te juig terwyl hy die wêreld rugbybeker in Francois Pienaar se nommer 6 trui omhoog gehou het. ‘n Nasie verenig. Wie sou kon dink dat daardie selfde nasie 14 jaar later meer verdeeld sou wees as ooit. Korrupsie, nepotisme, selfverryking en onbevoegdheid van amptenary en politieke leiers het daardie opgeruimde reënboognasie se hoop gesteel. Veels geluk met u verjaarsdag, meneer Mandela. Jammer oor die manier waarop ons die hoop wat u destyds vir ons gegee het, verwaarloos het.

Ons ontrou kan nie 'n streep deur God se trou trek nie Lees: Romeine 3:3-4
Een van die belangrikste waarhede wat die Bybel ons leer, is dat God getrou is, ongeag ons ontrouheid. Hierdie waarheid word treffend na vore gebring deur die beloftes wat God in die Ou Testament gemaak het. Heel aan die begin van die Ou Testament, in Gen. 3:15 het God belowe dat daar iemand uit die vrou se nageslag sal kom wat die duiwel sal oorwin. Later het God aan Abraham belowe dat in hom al die nasies van die aarde geseën sal word (Gen. 12:3). In 2 Sam. 7:16 belowe die Here aan Dawid dat sy koningskap vir altyd vas sal staan, daar sal altyd iemand uit sy nageslag op sy troon sit. En in Miga 5:1 word voorspel dat die Messias, die Verlosser in Betlehem gebore sal word. Maar die mense aan wie hierdie beloftes gemaak is, het nie altyd die Here getrou gedien nie. Abraham het die Here nie altyd vertrou nie (Gen. 20:1-2). Dawid het onder andere owerspel en moord gepleeg (2 Sam. 11)! Die Ou Testament is vol verhale wat vertel hoedat die volk Israel keer op keer ongehoorsaam aan die Here was. En tog het God sy woord gehou. In Betlehem, soos voorspel, is Jesus Christus gebore. Aan die kruis het Hy, soos belowe, die duiwel oorwin. Hy sit aan die regterhand van God en regeer as nakomeling van Dawid, soos belowe, vir ewig. En elkeen wat in Hom glo word kinders van Abraham genoem. So het die belofte waar geword dat in Abraham al die nasies van die aarde geseën sal wees! Ons ontrou kan nie ’n streep trek deur God se trou nie. Dink bietjie daaroor na. Kom ons maak dit van toepassing op die
kerk van die Here Jesus. Daar is mense wat vra of die kerk sal bly voortbestaan. Ek gee toe dat as ’n mens kyk hoedat baie die kerk verlaat, en hoedat daar verdeeldheid binne die kerk heers oor veral sake waaroor saamgestem behoort te word, dan kan mens kwalik anders as om oor die kerk se toekoms te wonder. Maar as gelowiges behoort ons nie die vraag te vra of die kerk sal bly voortbestaan of nie, want ons God is getrou. Die kerk is deel van God se plan en die Here Jesus sal ’n kerk vind wanneer Hy weer terugkeer na hierdie wêreld. Wat ons eerder moet vra is of ons deel van sy kerk wil wees en of ons ons kinders leer om sy kerk lief te hê en aanmoedig om deel daarvan te bly. Ons begeerte moet eerder wees om te sien dat ander wat nog nie deel van die Here se kerk is nie, deel daarvan word. Die kerk het ’n toekoms! Daaraan moet ons nie twyfel nie. Ons moet dit glo, want ons God is getrou en die ontrouheid van mense, selfs kerkmense kan nie ’n streep daardeur trek nie! Kyk weer na Jesus Christus! Hy is die bewys dat God sy beloftes nakom, selfs raak mense ontrou aan Hom. Niks kan God keer om sy plan tot uitvoering te bring nie, daarom kan ons die beloftes wat Hy in die Bybel maak, glo.

Here, dankie dat U getrou bly. Ek twyfel ook soms. En soms wonder ek ook wat van u kerk gaan word, maar dankie dat U in Christus gewys het dat niks in die pad van u plan met hierdie wêreld staan nie.
