WHERE WE LIVE >>> HARRISON COUNTY

Fair draws fans from 4 counties NEAL GEBHARD WORLD-HERALD NEWS SERVICE

DUNLAP – Dunlap is home to a fair like no other. That’s because this fair covers four counties, bringing in a highly competitive line of livestock shows and a variety of fun events. The 4 County Fair is an independent fair that raises its money on its own. Fair President Bob Buresh said the fair has been a success for 77 years because it can offer more prize money and draws its audiences from a larger area. The four counties involved are Crawford, Harrison, Monona and Shelby. The livestock shows offer competitors in the four counties a chance to show their stock against a broader range of entries prior to the state fair. In recent years, the shows have expanded to include poultry and rabbits, providing competitions for younger participants. Events beyond livestock shows draw crowds to the 4 County Fair. The tractor pull brings in 100 competitors, some from more than 100 miles away. There also are ATV drag races and a Team Penning
