FED CATTLE/WEIGH COWS TUES.,OCT.16TH: USDA called the fed cattle $1-2 higher. The choice select spread keeps getting wider. Biggest spread we’ve seen in some time. As long as we stay this way we will see huge spreads between the high grading and lower grading cattle. On a 1400# str. Today there would be a $150/hd difference between a choice and select calf. Weigh cows were lower. Still tons of pressure as ranchers wean calves. I am still very optimistic on where this market is heading. We had a very large run on the weigh cow special.
