“I DO” Again Tom and Gayle Benson Renew Their Vows by:Troy Marks On October 22 2014, New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owners Tom and Gayle Benson renewed their vows at the St. Louis Cathedral surrounded by over 1,000 friends and family members. The milestone marked the 10 year anniversary of their wedding and was made extra special by the fact that they met at the St. Louis Cathedral. Tom Benson first saw Gayle Marie LaJaunie Bird as she was doing a reading of the Scripture at a 7:30 A.M. service and stayed after Mass to meet her. Mr. Benson was attending Mass that day to commemorate the

anniversary of his first wife’s death. After a very brief five month courtship, Tom and Gayle were married in San Antonio on October 29 2004. Gayle says, “I had been single for over 3o years and was very content in life. I certainly was not looking to get married, but God had other plans.” Their renewal ceremony was performed by Archbishop Gregory Aymond, a close friend of the Bensons, and also included over 20 other clergy members. The entire choir of the St. Louis Cathedral was on hand to serenade the couple as they pledged their love.
