“We’re hoping that other people can share their experiences, what they’re going through, what they’ve tried, what they haven’t, and learn something,” Lisa said.
Lisa said the goals of the group are simple.
The monthly group meetings provide emotional support by sharing stories, discussing what works and what doesn’t work when managing MS. With guest speakers like eye doctors, nurses and physical therapists the meetings are also educational.
“Just being able to talk to other people with MS makes you feel comfortable and you can learn from each other.”
“When you have MS you may feel kind of isolated,” said David Hemphill who is the Alton/River Bend Talk MS Group co-leader with his wife Lisa.
