In the January 2010 issue of National Mortgage Professional Magazine, we will be dedicating a special section to “Fighting Fraud,” and are seeking articles on the topic. We are seeking articles on the following subjects related to fraud: O How do you and your company combat fraud? O What systems do you have in place to spot the red flags of fraud? O What do you do when fraud rears its head and YOU happen to be involved in the process? O What technologies are available to combat fraud? O What sort of job has the industry done to police itself and combat fraud? O Do you feel more legislation is necessary to fight fraud?

All these topics and much more can be addressed. Now it is your turn to weigh in on this topic. We are accepting articles up until Monday, Dec. 7 for this issue. The articles we are seeking should be: Approximately 1,200-1,500 words in length; not be too self-serving toward a particular company or product; include a brief bio on the author along with a color photo; and be written toward our target audience of mortgage brokers, mortgage bankers, loan originators, the servicing sector, secondary market executives, technology providers, etc. … basically anyone involved in the mortgage industry!

Please forward your articles and submissions to Eric C. Peck, Editor-in-Chief of National Mortgage Professional Magazine, by e-mail to ericp@nmpmediacorp.com or call (516) 409-5555 for more information.

As technology advances, so do the ways in which unscrupulous individuals engage in mortgage fraud. Technology has given these thieves the tools to evade the business practices and ethics of the honest mortgage professional, but as new illegal ways are developed to push loans through the pipeline, the industry must keep up with these thieves to stop them.

The Wisconsin Mortgage Professionals Association, in conjunction with the National Association of Mortgage Brokers, is committed to promoting the highest degree of professionalism for its members, and providing ethical and professional standards against which Mortgage Brokers can be measured. In order to achieve this goal, NAMB has developed a rigorous certification program to recognize brokers who have attained the highest levels of professional expertise. Developed through extensive research by mortgage industry experts, an NAMB designation is gained only when the candidate has met certain requirements of experience and knowledge to practice mortgage brokering, and has also passed a written examination. There are three programs, each having different levels of experience and knowledge qualifications. These programs are the General Mortgage Associate (GMA) Certified Mortgage Consultant (CMC) and Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist (CRMS). WAMB would like to take this opportunity to recognize and congratulate the following members for attaining their GMA, CMC or CRMS designations:
