The Kicks keep keeping as they keep it real with NMK The Kicks were sponsored by NMK recently for a football event at the Autodrome. The girls played well but unfortunately did not win the match. However in all fairness they look pretty wicked with their football uniforms and hopefully next time they’ll win

Marina Mall gets Istyle

For the people of Abu Dhabi you can now get the latest computer gadgets at Marina mall with the new Istyle that has recently opened. Ofcourse you can check out several consumer products that NMK distributes such as the SHURE headphone series as well as RANE and Vestax products. It’s a really nice outlet and doesn’t look cramped up with so many items on display. For those people living in the Dubai you probably already know the new Mirdif City center is open. However there is a new Virgin Megastore open so do check it out as I personally think it has one of the best layouts from all the Virgin Stores I have seen. NMK again has their consumer items from SHURE and ION on display but do also check out the DJ Corner for some Vestax equipment.

NMK @ Timeout Night Awards 2010

A very lavish event took place at the Atlantis Ballroom on the 17th of March and NMK took the opportunity to sponsor such a night to find out the ‘players’ in the night industry. However we were also there to expose ourselves to potential customers and generally show support for the industry. The night started off with a 3 course dinner while a 3 piece band performed live on stage. There were several awards giving out during the night and NMK provided 2 SHURE SRH750 DJ headphones to the ‘DJ of the Year’ who was MR MR

and to ‘Battle of the DJs’ which was David Craig who won it during the after party at The Sanctuary which happened after the Awards Ceremony. We also had a NMK stall during the event so that guests could try out some of the equipment and know where they could find it. In conclusion the night was filled with beautiful people, an open bar, great food and a place to catch up with old and new friends. If you weren’t there make sure you check it out next year as I’m sure it will be another spectacular event.

NMK @ CABSAT

NMK was at the 2010 CABSAT exhibition in the audio/radio section. As you can see we didn’t spend too much time trying to make our booth look great. However we went with a different approach which was to make sure we were in more than one place. This year we got on onboard the Creative Media Zone which was in a prime location and the guys from Media Production made sure our logo was plastered all over the place. In return we provided the SRH240 headphones which they needed for the live podcasts they were doing at the exhibition as well as the Blue Mikey for the interviews that they were taking during the entire 3 day event. Ofcourse our stall got a lot of looks because of the Midas Pro 6 and our sales staff were kept busy explaining to potential customers on what’s new as well as getting new contacts. However on the second day not only were we busy at the Creative Media Zone but we also sponsored the Broadcasting conference with a AV system. We provided SHURE wireless gooseneck microphones for the guests and the presenter as well as Electro Voice speakers.

In conclusion being at CABSAT was great to update ourselves on the latest trends and see where we stand in the broadcasting market. The topics at the broadcasting conference were also quite interesting with the advent of 3d and HD viewing. Hopefully NMK will be there at next year’s CABSAT and I’m sure we will be doing even more collaborations with other companies to make us stand out from the rest. Hope to see you next year!!!

NMK @ Hip Hop for Haiti

March 25 - A dope bboy battle took place at the Shelter with breakdancers coming from different parts of the UAE as well as nearby countries. NMK was fortunate enough to sponsor the event by providing a sound system and some DJ equipment from Vestax and Rane. There were a bunch of other sponsors such as Adidas, Zulu Nation and Cure International. The event was actually a fundraiser for Haiti who suffered 2 earthquakes recently so NMK took the opportunity to help these people in the best way we can.

The night started of with DJ Solo on the wheels of steel as he played some sick Hip Hop tracks. He was also using the Shibuya Breaks Vinyls which NMK just so happens to supply. We’ve been getting alot of good feedback with regards to these vinyls so do check them out if your a DJ. The night proceeded with the quarter finals where 5 battles took place and were all equally good. Jibberish from Diligent Thought then came on to the stage to entertain the crowd with Hirabeat on the beatbox. The Semi Finals then took place while the Brown Monkeys started doing some graffiti in the smoking area which looked pretty amazing. Unfortunately I couldn’t take any pictures as it was really dark outside. After the semi finals DJ Yeti who came all the way from Ras Al Khaimah got the crowd pumped for the finale which was between Bboy Tommy and Bboy Kelwa. The Judges were really focused as the contestants were both equally good. The 3 judges were Bboy Risk from the UK, Bboy Zilla from Tunisia and Bboy Milke from UAE. At the end only one could win and it had to go to Bboy Kelwa from Oman. He had some great technique and a cool afro which earned him the title to be numbre uno. NMK would like to thank all the people for supporting the event and hopefully we can sponsor even bigger events in the future.

The NEW BM5A MKII

Our BM 5A monitors have become something of a legend in monitoring circles, thanks largely to their accuracy, clarity, and that they can deliver a punch well above their weight. Now we have taken the original design and made it even better. The result: BM5A MKII nearfield precision monitors with ultra-accurate handcrafted driver technology. The BM 5A MKII imparts all of the quality and power that you’ve come to expect from Dynaudio Acoustics but they have been re-engineered to take nearfield monitoring to new levels of performance. New features include our handmade drivers that offer the best in quality and accuracy. The woofer offers longer excursions so stays linear for longer, resulting in a cleaner, tighter bass response. This louder and more accurate bass is matched at the top end with a high-resolution soft dome tweeter that delivers an unparalleled response. The added waveguide ensures less acoustical reflections and a more accurate sweet spot for the listener, resulting in a much better monitoring experience. We’ve matched the drivers perfectly to the BM 5A MKII’s custom designed dual amps to deliver maximum 117dB SPL while maintaining extraordinary sensitivity, resulting in a louder, cleaner and more accurate sound. The three integrated analog room filters allow you adjustment and compensation of the acoustical monitor placement at both Low, Mid and High frequencies e.g. adjusting for the bass boost at corner or wall placement as well as the potential high frequency console reflections. With the BM 5A MKII we have taken an established industry standard and made it louder, clearer and more accurate than ever. With the BM5A MKII expect better monitoring across the entire frequency range.

Focusrite announce ISA One Digital

Focusrite have announced the ISA One Digital, a version of the ISA One mic preamp/DI that ships as standard with on-board analogue-to-digital conversion. It’s the perfect preamp for singer/songwriters, thanks to its independent mic pre and DI signal paths and, with its 192kHz digital outputs, it can transform any audio interface with a digital input into a truly professional DAW front end.

The ADC board — which was previously an optional extra for the analogue-only ISA One — provides AES/EBU, S/PDIF and SMUX-compliant ADAT outputs for the unit, with the preamp and DI signals streamed separately over the two channels of the digital connection. With studio-grade A-D conversion and jitter-elimination technology, and an impressive 118dB dynamic range, this direct digital link bypasses the analogue circuitry and converters in your existing audio interface, providing a high-end signal path straight into any music-recording software, including Pro Tools, Logic, Nuendo and Sonar.

The ISA One Digital’s mic pre features Focusrite’s classic Transformer-based circuitry, giving you the sound made famous by the Forte console in your home or project studio. The preamp’s switchable impedance includes an ISA 110 setting, to accurately emulate the classic Focusrite front end, and there’s a dedicated insert point, to add further processing into the signal chain. The unit also features a headphone output with a stereo cue mix input — so you can monitor signals from your DAW — and comprehensive metering provides accurate visual feedback.

The standard analogue-only ISA One will remain on sale in stores worldwide, at a new lower price.

Pearl Welcomes Ray Luzier

Pearl Welcomes Ray Luzier3/22/2010Pearl signs Ray Luzier of Korn to the artist roster. Pearl Drums is very happy to welcome Ray Luzier to the artist roster! For those rare few of you who may not know, Ray has been slamming with the legendary rock band, Korn, since October of 2007. Since that time Korn has toured the world several times over, headlining some of the biggest stages on the planet, with some of the biggest bands of our time. Currently, Ray and the guys have been hard at work on the new album, which is set to be released later this year. Ross Robinson, producer of the first 2 Korn albums, “Korn” in 1994 and “Life is Peachy” in 1996, was brought on board to record this new release to assist in bringing back the classic sound that Korn fans have grown to know throughout the bands tenure. Until the album’s release, Korn is heading up to Alaska and Canada for their first tour, of many, for 2010. Shortly after their Canadian dates, Korn is scheduled to headline both the Jagermeister Music Tour and the 2010 Mayhem Festival which will keep them out on the road from May 2nd- August 14th. Ray will be out rocking his Pearl Reference Series kits for these early dates until his Masterworks kit, equipped with a custom finish designed by Ray himself, is ready to hit the road. To find out more about Korn’s upcoming hectic schedule, please visit them online at www.korn.com. Also be sure to check out the pictures below of Ray and his new Reference kit from the Korn rehearsal space. Welcome to the Pearl family Ray!!
