District 8 Report

Well convention is just over. What a whirlwind. It was very cool to see a donated rabbit to the GFA win BOB and go on to sell for $2,900. What generous donors we have. I hope that everyone will breed and keep one back for the Golden Fleece Auction in the event you may be asked to donate. Lots of excitement at this years convention. Rose Marie Bunnie Turley PASSED the orange variety. And the vote in varieties, chocolate otter, lilac otter, chocolate and lilac pointed white, chocolate and lilac tort also passed the ARBA standard committee. These will be able to be shown as soon as they are published in the Domestic Rabbit. It was also announced convention will be in Louisville for 2023 and 2024.

The two largest groups shown were the broken that we went over last month and the Self group which we will discuss this month. The Self group covers black, blue, blue eyed white, chocolate, lilac and ruby eyed white. Black is to be uniform black overall, with a slate undercolor with brown eyes. Blue is to be a uniform dark blue overall, with a slate blue undercolor with blue gray eyes. Blue eyed white is to be pure white with blue eyes. Chocolate is to be uniform medium chocolate brown overall, with a dove gray undercolor with brown eyes, may have a ruby cast. Lilac is to be uniform dove gray with a pinkish tint with blue gray eyes and may have a ruby cast. Ruby eyed white is to be pure white, with white toenails and ruby red pupil with pink iris eyes.

Showing around district 8 has remained healthy. Lots of shows with close to and over 100 rabbits, with a healthy amount of youth breeders. Keep up the great work!!!!!

Lets make this coming year 2023 a focus on growing our youth breeders. I hope you accept this challenge. Congratulations to all of you.
