In conventional 2D mammography, overlapping tissue is a leading reason why small breast cancers may be missed and normal tissue may appear abnormal, leading to unnecessary callbacks. A Genius exam includes a three-dimensional method of imaging that can greatly reduce this tissue overlap effect. A Genius low dose 3D Mammography™ exam includes both 2D images and tomosynthesis scans. During the tomosynthesis portion of the exam, an X-ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over the breast, taking multiple images. A computer then converts the images into a stack of thin layers, allowing the radiologist to review the breast tissue one layer at a time. A low dose Genius exam requires no additional compression and each scan is complete in just a few seconds. The platform for the Genius exam is the Hologic Selenia® Dimensions® system, the only clinically superior breast tomosynthesis system as approved by the FDA. The new system is recommended for women of all ages and breast densities. The system allows our radiologists to more effectively pinpoint the size, shape, and location of abnormalities. This leads to better detection and greater peace of mind for our patients. Large clinical studies in the United States and Europe have demonstrated the positive benefits of a Genius 3D Mammography™ exam. The largest study to date on breast cancer screening using the Genius exam was published in the June 25, 2014, issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Findings include: A 41 percent increase in the detection of invasive breast cancers. A 29 percent increase in the detection of all breast cancers. A 15 percent decrease in women recalled for additional imaging. Little Silver Mammography Center is committed to the fight against breast cancer. World Subaru shares the love

ver the past eight years, Subaru owners have helped donate over $65 million to various charities with their choice to purchase or lease a new Subaru during the Share the Love Event. The event took place during the holiday season and not only included incredible deals on new Subarus, but also was an opportunity to act philanthropically and contribute to the community. With every new Subaru that was purchased or leased, Subaru donated $250 to the customer’s choice of five national charities or the one charity specific to the local Subaru dealership. World Subaru, located on Shrewsbury Avenue in Shrewsbury/Tinton Falls, chose Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation for their local charity option for those participating in the Share the Love Event. World Subaru donated an additional $25 to Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation for each vehicle leased or sold this past holiday season. The Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation raises money for alternative therapies and actual treatments for children in desperate need. The

statistics surrounding childhood cancer are startling — one in every 330 children will be diagnosed with a form of cancer by age 20 and cancer claims the lives of more children annually than any other disease, such as asthma, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and AIDS, all combined. The Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation is a leader in the forefront of bringing many alternative therapies into clinic which could prolong the lives of children diagnosed with can-

cer until a cure is funded. World Subaru general manager Joe Wajda gave his sentiment for the Share the Love Event and his reasoning for choosing The Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation for World Subaru’s local charity option. “The Share the Love Event is such a powerful opportunity to make a positive change, not only locally, but also on a national level. I’ve always been amazed at the ability to make an impact on the lives of others, whether

on a small personal level like being able to offer a Subaru for an affordable price to another member of my community, or on such a larger scale, like taking part in philanthropy that has the potential to do something as meaningful as making strides towards the treatment of childhood cancer. That’s why I chose Arms Wide Open to be our local charity that we’re offering and supporting. I believe that the combined efforts of many can evolve into something so much larger than we can fathom, something as large as aiding in the fight against children’s cancer, and the fact that I personally can be involved in this, and be an active part of it, is one of the greatest things I can imagine. I’m honored to be a part of it.” This year World Subaru, Tinton Falls, raised $63,650 for Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation. In the last two years, World Subaru has raised over $100,000 for the foundation and has set a goal to raise over $500,000 to fight childhood cancer by 2021.
