TheJourneyfrom DonationstoImpact

Have you ever thought about how your donations reach those who need them most? Check out our process outlined below.

Food Drives and Retail Donations

New Journey accepts collected food from community food drives as well as local retail partners and our local food bank,

Helping Harvest

Inventory

Donated food is sorted for quality and safety, recorded and weighed before being allocated to a specific program

Pantry by Choice

Each week, 125 families are welcomed by a trained volunteer who assists them in selecting groceries tailored to their unique needs.

Monetary Donations

Monetary donations to New Journey are logged into our donor management system, categorized and then used to purchase food and to support operations and direct programming

Allocation

Food is allocated to either our pantry program for client choice appointments or to our daily lunch program and stored accordingly

Lunch Program

400 meals are prepared and served daily, providing much needed nourishment to our unhoused community members and those struggling to feed their children

“Thank you for believing I can do this and helping me believe I can do this. This place is my safe haven.”

NJCO Guest

HOPE COMFORT

“New Journey will come and lift you up. People come in here and they feel welcome, like a door has opened for them.”

NJCO Guest

DIGNITY

“What I really liked about all of you was no matter how messed up I was on many different levels, you guys never stopped treating me with respect and dignity. For that, I’ll always love you all.”

“I serve on the board of New Journey Community Outreach in Reading, PA, because I’m passionate about addressing food insecurity in our community. Seeing individuals and families struggle to put meals on the table is heartbreaking. New Journey plays a crucial role in providing nutritious food and resources to those in need, fostering hope and stability in our community. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of an organization that not only meets immediate needs but also empowers individuals to build a brighter future for themselves, their families, and this community.”
