TORO CREEK NATURE PARK TORO CREEK NATURE PARK, USA Year 2

This project examines a decommissioned oil facility located just off of Highway 1, and north of Morro Bay in San Luis Obispo county. The site is located south of Toro Creek and it’s estuary as it flows into the Pacific Ocean. The terminal received crude oil from interior valley oil production facilities and loaded it into ships for transport from the 1930’s until 1999. This project interprets and applies understanding of environmental and ecological issues, in order to plan and design within the natural and built systems found in and around the Toro Creek Watershed. Emphasising recreation and education, this design proposal offers a nature park open for public and private use that integrates and respects its local surroundings.
