Guidelines for Muhurtha Selection Kaalavidhana says: Doshan sarvan paritruktu masakyambahuvalsari Tasmaal pareekshyakurveetaswalpadoshagunaadhikey Even Devas cannot get, for years, a muhurtha fully auspicious. Any selected muhurtha can be a mixture of some good and a few bad. So the intelligent must seek only muhurthas which are of less of evils and more of auspicious points and get the things done at that moment. Aadimadyaantarahita: kaalonaamavibhuswayam Sadaasaddoshassaguno nirdosha: kopinaasthi: As the Kalapurusha is without any beginning, middle or end; all pervading and is forever and everywhere (invasive in all directions in time and space) with good and bad ingredients, it will be impossible to select any moment free from all blemishes. It is therefore necessary for the learned to choose a time where the doshas are to the minimum and the good factors are at the maximum. 1. For all deeds for which there are rules regarding the month (masakaryas) or days (dinakaryas) on which they have to be performed, the rule of rejection of shad doshas like the combustion of Venus or Jupiter and Adhimasa etc need not be considered. Nisheka and Namakarana are Dinakaryas. Pumsavana, Seemantha, Vishnubali, Garbharaksha, Nishkramana, and Annaprasana are Masakaryas. So these eight functions are exempted from the purview of the shad doshas. 2. Janmarasi of a person is good and acceptable for Travel, Vivaha, Gruharambha, Gruhapravesha, Seemantha, Samavarthana, taking medicines, Upakarma and Vratas.
