If you’re one of our resident Snowbirds, I encourage you to fill out a Snowbird Change of Address form before you head south. It’s available in our Member Services office as well as on our website, under the private resident’s section. This will enable you to stay in touch while you’re away from your Pocono Farms home. We know you’d not want to miss an edition of the Weathervane, right? If you’re going to soldier through the Tobyhanna winter with the rest of us, November is the perfect time to make sure your yard is cleaned up before the snow flies. Having your lawn mowed and your leaves cleaned up isn’t just part of being a responsible homeowner, it’s part of the rules and regulations to live in Pocono Farms. Our Administrative Code, available online, states: Lawns shall be mowed to a height of no more than 4 inches and weeds must be controlled. Violations shall result in weekly fines. For more information on this particular code violation, you can read more in Chapter 106 – Rules and Regulations, Section F. If you’re not familiar with our Administrative Code or new to our community, I highly recommend you take the time to bookmark it on our website and at least scan through it. It’s an amazingly thorough document that contains pretty much everything you need to know about living in Pocono Farms. Although the Administrative Code gives management the ability to fine non-compliant homeowners, we’d much rather you keep your property within the standards you agreed to when you moved here, however long ago that was. Just like the saying goes, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Keeping properties neat and well-maintained helps keep our community beautiful, it also helps decrease the rodent population, which means less will be trying to make your home, their home once the snow flies. Maintaining your lawn properly prior to winter will also help your lawn come back healthier next Spring, so get out there, rake and mow one last time for 2021!
