February, the month of Love, some would say. We send cards, chocolates, and flowers to those who mean the most. We take our spouses or significant others out for a romantic dinner. Some even chose this month to ask another to spend the rest of their life with them. Yes, it seems that those things happen on one specific day in the month of February most famously name Valentine’s Day.

Let me ask you this, why does it have to be a specific day or month that we celebrate our love or admiration for another person? And why do we show that love with things?

It seems to me that we should be showing our love for others and ourselves every day.

Supporting another, cheering them on, laughing with them, picking them up when they fall, encouraging them, joining them in something they find difficult and just simply letting them know you’re there.

The same can be done when we chat about self-care and selflove. Taking care of your body is so important! Planning your meals and prepping your food so you aren’t tempted to make bad choices. Setting your alarm to wake up early, beginning your day with a short yoga flow or stretch. Feeding your mind with positive affirmations and maybe some motivational quotes. Journaling your thoughts, hopes and dreams maybe even writing out your goals for the day, week, or month.

Treat yourself when you accomplish a goal you’ve been working towards. Buy yourself flowers or chocolates maybe even take your self out to dinner and enjoy your favorite glass of wine. Cheer yourself on and support yourself. You are your biggest cheerleader!!

Self-love is not selfish; you cannot truly love another until you know how to love yourself.
