Neighborhood Watch

BY RUSS KELLY Public

Hopefully by the time you are reading this, summer is in full bloom. June was so wet in the last few weeks, and July started out the same. Nature has a way of evening things out, so maybe we will be back to normal in August.

July can be a busy month with the July 4th holiday, races at Pocono and our Annual Meeting. August means the new Board of Directors and committees will be getting the new terms going. Getaway vacations and trips to the shore will fill some calendars. College freshman will be getting ready to start the next phase of their lives. The grass usually does not grow as fast in August, so maybe a little more free time can be had. With that rainy spell in June and early July, it was hard to keep up with the grass cutting. I am sure some high grass letters did not go out for a while from our code official.

We continue to see weekend users putting full garbage cans out early, resulting in garbage being spilled in the road or on the property by bears or other animals. Owners and the administration are going to have to see if they can find a solution to this common problem.

In June, the volunteers drove about 142 hours through the farms. These hours reached only because several drivers volunteer for multiple shifts. This gray-haired brigade is always looking for a new member. We tire more easily now. Think about joining us for a day, a month or more. Call the office at 570-894-4435, leave a message for Russ Kelly at 570-894-4034, or talk to Artie Furman, our security official, all will be glad to help you get started!
