Playa d’en Bossa’s Water Treatment Plant is Pumping Sewage Into Sea at 240 Times the Permissible Level for Human Contact The Alliance for Water has criticised the Playa d’en Bossa treatment plant, Can Bossa, for releasing untreated waste into the sea, with a faecal content equivalent to sewage and 240 times the permissible level for human contact.

Can Bossa takes all of Ibiza’s cess pit trucks, in addition to local sewage. It’s job is to treat the water and make safe. But according to the Alliance report it is being pumped untreated into the sea of the Salinas Nature reserve.

The Alliance for Water (Alianza por el Agua) made their findings public on the 5th September after their submariners had recorded video evidence of the deteriorated and (Con nued on page 2)

Historic Building Gets Youth Centre Makeover The Local Government of Santa Eulalia has approved the draft implementation project for a social and youth centre at ‘Hort dels Dominics’ (also known as Can Seni). The farmhouse of L'Hort dels Dominics will be converted into a social space that will act as ‘Punt Jove’ for cultural and social entities, as well as having public toilets, three function rooms and a cafeteria. The house, included in the Special Plan for the Protec-

tion of the Historic Site of Jesus, was originally built in 1674 has undergone many adaptations in its time. It is currently in a semi ruinous state and the project will be maintaining as much of its original features as possible. From here, the procedure for the tender begins, so that by the end of the year the works could commence with an expected duration period of six months. The initial budget of the works is around one million euros.

Woman in 'Very Critical' Condition after Hotel Pool Mystery Incident A British woman, aged 28 years, remains in what doctors described as 'very critical' critical condition following a mystery incident in her Hotel Pool where she almost drowned. The unnamed woman was staying in the smart 4 star Ebeso Hotel on Ramón Muntaner Street in Figueretes, on the outskirts of Ibiza Town. The event occurred at 18.42 hours for reasons that remain a mystery. An Advanced Life Support ambulance and a Basic Life Support ambulance attended the scene, where paramedics proceeded to undertake CPR for an extended time. The paramedics finally managed to recover spontaneous circulation, according to the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera. Subsequently, the woman was transferred to Can Misses Hospital at 9:00 pm where she was admitted to the ICU in very critical condition.

leaking emissary (pipeline) on the 22nd August. In the recording, which has been released publicly, it can be seen clearly that the emissary is in very poor condition. Several holes are visible through which the faecal matter is being released into the sea. The pipeline is also surrounded by suspended matter and the sandy bottom with pieces of plastic, “which alone demonstrates the malfunctioning of this sewage treatment plant” according to the Alliance. "The presence of plastics shows that the sewage treatment plant has been able to discharge wastewater directly and without performing the primary and secondary treatments which are necessary for compliance with current regulations," says the statement issued by the Alliance for Water. The dumping area is located 1.4 kilometres from the coast, at a depth of 30 metres and is also located on the border of the Ses Salines Natural Park, an area protected by law for its important marine environment. In the area studied by the divers, "there was a highly degraded marine environment, with a reduction or absence of Posidonia grasslands and a high proliferation of green and red generalist algae, epiphytic algae, high sedimentation and organic load on the seafloor.”, All indicative of a “high pollutant load”.

Analysis The Alliance for Water also carried out analysis that showed "values that are much higher than those established by current legislation on sewage". The three legal parameters applied in these cases "were significantly exceeded" as shown in the table below. Test

The levels of nutrients were also exceeded, which "signals the poor functioning of the Can Bossa treatment plant in the summer period of August," the statement says. It is perhaps the excessive faecal matter measurements that will raise most immediate alarm and concern among the public. In this test the result of 241,960 units of the bacterium Escherichia coli, “when the reference value for human contact according to the current regulations is 1,000” units is 240 times more than the maximum recommended for human contact, although the spokesperson of the Alliance for Water, Juan Calvo, did say that the distance between this point and the beach "is quite large and it does not affect bathers”.

Sewer water In any case, the concentration of faecal matter detected at the point of discharge "is equivalent to that of raw sewage," Calvo summarised. He also pointed out that the Playa d'en Bossa treatment plant "is the one that receives the tankers which empty the septic tanks of homes on the island and, therefore, is subject to an additional pressure to purify sewage water." The Alliance for Water has repeatedly called for the introduction of a tertiary treatment in the Can Bossa plant to avoid these situations and give agricultural output to the water it produces. "This shows more than ever the need for this action," said Calvo, who has also asked for the "replacement of the emissary" with a new one. The Alliance plans to repeat these dives and analysis in the coming weeks to follow up on the situation. News British Market Accounts For 1/4 of Ibiza’s Total Tourist Income Here’s an interesting set of stats from the ever producing IBESTAT Balearic Statistics Institute. Do a little digging under the bonnet of their expenditure and profile of tourism statistics, known as EGATUR, and it is possible to find the amount of expenditure by island and then by country of residence. The country of residence is far less detailed than some of their statistics, with only the three biggest markets, Spain, the UK and Germany detailed individually, all others being grouped into the collective Rest of the World category.

2018 Year To Date In the latest figures to the end of June 2018, the UK tourist expenditure amounts to 245 million euros of a total 978 million. The British 245 dwarfs the German amount of 102 million, and even the Spanish which only comes in at 139 million euros. Of the countries individually identified, the UK leads the field in the most amount spent per day, at 145€, just ahead of the Germans at 143, who are both way ahead of the Spanish who spend just 99€ per head per day on holiday. The rest of the world showed a 199€ per day spend indicating that someone out there is splashing the cash, though who that may be we are left to ponder. Market

Annual Picture 2017 Intrigued by the latest figures we decided to take a look back and it is clear the importance of the British market is reflected on an annual basis also. In the whole year 2017 the British market accounted for 790 million euros of a total 3.1 billion. Again this dwarfed the German expenditure of 308 million and Spanish of 406 million euros. If the EGATUR figures are anything to go by Brexit is having nothing of an effect on the British spend in Ibiza either. Though poor exchange rates may be expected to have resulted in a drop in euro expenditure, the amount is actually going up. The average daily spend by the British was 152€ at the end of 2017, up 6.2% on the previous year. The EGATUR figures show that the British market is even more important to Ibiza’s economy than the number of tourists suggest.

 Not For The Likes Of Hooligans, The New Piscis Park Will Make The Most Of The Hotel’s Spectacular Views

San An’s Infamous Piscis Park 10 Million Euro 4 Star Makeover Piscis Park has long been held by many as the quintessential example of everything wrong in San Antonio. Piscis Park, one hotel you would never recommend to relatives, unless you didn’t want them to come back. It is big, at 366 rooms only Ibiza Rocks is bigger, it is cheap, and it caters for the young end of the market. It is also very prominent, occupying the egg roundabout that is such a focal point for the town. To put it plainly, it has a reputation as a hooligan hotel, reflected by its nickname of Pikey Park. In the Diario de Ibiza’s report on the announced refurbishment they said that “for many years it has operated more as a hooligan shop than a hotel”. Whatever a person’s views on the politics of San Antonio’s tourism and its historic youth market, Piscis Park has always been a hotel that nobody would recommend to their friends and relatives. Unless you didn’t want them to visit again.

Playa Sol Plans Owners Playa Sol say the planned 10 million euro development has been planned for some time. “We have been working on this project for many months and even years,” said the CEO of Playa Sol, Antonio Domenech, who also mentioned the recent complete remodelling of the Algarb in Platja d’en Bossa, a hotel of similar size that successfully made the transition from two to four stars. Playa Sol have undertaken complete refurbishment of many hotels in their chain, including the two Marco Polo hotels opposite Piscis Park – though these were slightly less ambitious, upgrading from 2 to 3 stars. Playa Sol are also refurbishing the Aparthotel del Mar in San Antonio, another 100 rooms upgrading from 2 to 4 star.

Refurbishment Work on the refurbishment will commence in a few weeks, “The only doubt we still have is whether we can do the whole work in one season or two,” said Domenech, who would like to be able to complete it as quickly as possible. “We would not want to spend a tourist season empty,” he said.

too good for hooligans, changes will be made to make the most of the stunning views from the new Piscis Park The remodelling project will not change the volume of the building nor will it increase the number of rooms, in fact it may reduce slightly due to the addition of suites. “One thing that will change will be the pool. It is three meters deep and, being too high, covers much of the view over the bay, so it will be lowered a bit,” explained the general manager of Playa Sol.

Future of San Antonio The general director of Playa Sol declares himself “optimistic” about the future of Sant Antoni and Ibiza in general. In his opinion, if you continue on the path of improving quality in the establishments of the urban core the ‘problems’ of San Antonio will be self-rectifying. “The mass tourism and poor quality of Sant Antoni is gradually being diluted, there will come a time when the West End dominated by drunken tourism will have no future,” Antonio Domenech, CEO of Playa Sol, (paraphrased in translation) Playa Sol is also grateful to the City of Sant Antoni for the agility with which the permits for the reform of Piscis Park have been processed. “We do not want to be given facilities, but at least there are no obstacles,” says the head of the group.

“Do Not Get Nervous” “It is said that the season has been bad, but we must bear in mind that two years ago it was exceptionally good and the only thing that has happened is that now there has been a correction. Do not get nervous, I think you have to send a message of tranquillity, “says the general manager of the chain. Of the 33 establishments that Playa Sol has on the island of Ibiza, eight are in the municipality of Sant Antoni and half have already been reformed or are in the process of being. Even so, “there is still a lot of work to be done in Sant Antoni”. Eight more hotels are on the other side of Portmany Bay and the rest are divided between Platja d’en Bossa and Ibiza Town.

Food & Drink kids pool and big pool are maintained beautifully, and the food and drinks are top notch. Plenty of parasols poolside to keep the littlest one shaded (and staff are always willing to help juggle them about to provide optimum coverage) and refreshingly cool air conditioning inside means there is never a risk of overheating the baby. We have been there on our own or with friends during the day and taken large groups there in the evening and I honestly cannot fault their service, food or drink. My personal favourites this year are the build your own chicken wraps and virgin strawberry daiquiri. Oh, and the chocolate brownie. Sublime. Prices are kind on the pocket too.

Vista Al Puerto, Cala de Bou This place has been run by the same local family for years. It boasts a kid’s pool and adults pool, indoor soft play, little outdoor park with a slide and seesaw, arcade games and a huge variety of ice creams. Kid heaven. Really low prices and friendly staff. Tables at the back are positioned perfectly to give parents a good view over the pool and play parks. A cheap and cheerful place to while away the afternoon and plenty of shady spots for baby.

Utopia Chiringuito, San Miguel (pic)

My Top 5 Places To Go With Kids In Tow  Carly M Sorensen On the 7th of June we welcomed our second child into the family and so many of our decisions regarding where to go to meet friends this Summer have centred around whether or not there's ample shade for a new baby and things (generally a pool or proximity to the sea) to keep our four-and-a-half-year-old mermaid girl entertained. Good food has been a bonus! Here are my top five places to go with two kids in tow.

Relish Restaurant, Cala de Bou I love this place. There is always a warm welcome from Alice, Tony, Candice and the other fantastic staff, the

A gorgeous family run and kid friendly place nestled into a cove a short walk through the trees from the main beach at San Miguel, or a dinghy ride in from your boat, Utopia is a hidden gem which is assembled every Spring and dissembled every October. White wooden bar area, tables, framework and flower decorated swings are canopied by white camouflage netting to keep it cool and shaded. At night, lanterns and fairy lights give it a magical touch which our eldest loves. Delicious fresh seafood is brought in by boat daily and prices are good for such quality food - the calamari main dish (3 whole calamari with veg and potato, all topped with a delicious fresh herb and garlic butter) is 18€. The owners and staff are friendly and accommodating too, not minding at all that we shoved a couple of their chairs together to make a bed when our littlest fell asleep and spoke directly to our eldest when we ordered (always wins points in my book). It's one of few places that still has that old school Spanish Chiringuito vibe, my only gripe is that it's so far away from where we live that our visits are only once or

twice a year.

Cala Llonga Beach Again, it's a bit of a trek from where we live, but I am happy to make the trek when waiting at the end is not only a white sandy beach with a huge choice of bars dotted along and behind it, but also a park on the sand with picnic tables and plenty of big shade-providing trees. Perfect as a meeting point with fellow families from around the island and a hugely popular birthday party venue. They also have cinema on the beach on Sunday evenings throughout the school holidays, market stalls along the promenade a few times a week and host the fabulous Playing For Change live music festival every September, raising money to fund music education for underprivileged kids. As well as music at Playing For Change you can expect a massive range of street food, loads of kid’s activities and a market. This year it's on the 23rd September and over 40 bands will be donating their time to the cause, myself and Backbeat included.

Villa Mercedes, San Antonio Back under the expert hand of Javier this year, Villa Mercedes is one of our favourite places to go with the kids for an evening out. Classy, elegant and beautiful, yet friendly and warm this place has the perfect balance. Everyone is welcomed, the views over the marina are gorgeous, the staff fantastic and the food brilliant. I took a group of visiting friends there recently for their Dine Before Nine menu, a three-course dinner for 21.50€. The food on this menu is of the same high standard as their regular menu absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The kid’s menu is also well thought out and presented, with fresh, wholesome ingredients and her food came out first, a small but important touch when dining with family. Everyone in our group absolutely loved it. What really makes Villa Mercedes stand apart for me though is the care and attention of manager Javier. He ensures everything runs smoothly, makes customers feel at home and goes above and beyond. Our four-year-old fell asleep shortly after finishing her meal and he was straight over with waiters carrying a couple big comfy chairs to push together and put her in so she could snooze while we continued our meal - it may not sound much, but any parent reading this will know it means a lot!

Food & Drink FoodNinja Kitchen Playa d’en Bossa, Rude Café  Carly M Sorensen Last week I went to the launch of Food Ninja Kitchen at Rude Cafe and bag drop in Playa d’en Bossa with my baby and a group of girlfriends and their kids. Don't be fooled by the unassuming outward appearance, this place serves seriously good food! Qualified and experienced nutritionist founder Hayley Field has launched this health food cafe following the success of her nutritional coaching and home meal delivery businesses.

Hayley’s Background Hayley was a self-employed IT consultant back in the UK and competitive Cross Fitter, as well as amateur boxer and pole dancer, when executing a 120kg deadlift during a competition resulted in a broken spine. Further investigation revealed Hayley had an undetected medical condition which had weakened her spine and x-rays revealed no less than 14 historical spinal fractures she had had no idea about. Several spinal surgeries later, she was confined to a bed for months while her back healed. As a self-employed person she had no income but was determined to find a way to build business from her bed. After talking to her friend and mentor she decided to re train as a Sports Nutritionist, something she had a passion and skill for already. She completed a one-year online certification in Sports Nutrition with a leading Canadian University and set up her Food Ninja business shortly after, designing meals perfectly suited to athletes’ goals and needs. She was also struggling with depression and dependence on pain medication herself so used her knowledge to help herself heal and decided to move to Ibiza to help combat her

depression. Fast forward five years and her back is pretty much healed, depression in check and nutritional coaching successful amongst athletes, 'fat fighters' and Joe Public alike, which has prompted her to roll out a home delivery service of nutritionally balanced and tailor -made meals and launch Food Ninja Kitchen. Quite a formidable woman!

Fresh, Healthy Food On arrival, Hayley greeted and seated us personally and was happy to talk through her new breakfast menu. Bread is specially made by the bakery up the road, eggs, meat and fruit all locally, organically sourced and all food is additive and preservative free. Fresh, honest, healthy and absolutely delicious. Between us we sampled pretty much everything on the menu (which details exactly what you are getting nutritionally as well). Avocado toasts on sourdough with coriander, lemon and fresh tomatoes perfectly poached eggs with English bacon on whole multi grain bread with fresh local avocado chocolate protein pancakes filled with organic natural coconut yoghurt oozing out and topped with fresh berries peanut butter and banana on wholegrain toast zingy lime and coconut power balls and, my personal favourite, sugar free homemade fruit compote topped

with organic natural yoghurt and the best homemade granola I have ever tasted. When I stopped shovelling it down my throat, I asked Hayley how she made it. She toasts all the nuts (pecans, cashews, almonds and more) separately then mixes them in organic honey, oats and a blend of spices she kept secret... Although I definitely tasted cinnamon and nutmeg in there. Truly scrumptious and that alone made my drive across from San Agustín and the August parking struggle worthwhile. Even the juices are freshly squeezed on site and she will soon be adding spirulina smoothies, fresh fruit and veg cocktails and perfectly balanced lunches to her marvellous menu. She also revealed plans to launch healthy curry nights, a healthy weight loss club and wellness walks in winter.

Prices Squeezed You would think that homemade, wholesome food in healthy portions from a top nutritionist would come with a hefty price tag, but I was pleasantly surprised by the bill. All the dishes were well under a tenner each - far less than the better-known health food places on the island. I will definitely be back at Food Ninja Kitchen soon and highly recommend it to any and everyone else... Eating well never tasted so good!

Tourist Guide Santa Eulalia Food & Drink  Los Otros, Vegan & Veg Restaurant, Santa Eulaia There can be little doubting the vegan credentials of Los Otros, as not only do they offer a fine range of Italian food, the owner is an authoritative author of vegan cookbooks too. The setting is magical. Just meters from the water on the marina front of Santa Eulalia, your visit will have the reassuringly relaxing soundtrack of the clinking masts of moored yachts.

 Smoker’s Delight Restaurant, Santa Eulalia Smoker’s Delight can make the rare claim to bringing something truly unique to Ibiza’s world of food. The restaurant smokes all their own food on the premises using 100% natural wood pellets in an offset smoker. The method - Low and Slow. The result – just about as succulent and flavoursome beef, turkey and salmon as you will ever taste. Vegans are well cared for including the smoked organic Tofu, the tapas tasters offer a perfect lite bite, and a full night menu that is, well, smoking. The salads look amazing, but our recommendation has to be the Beef Brisket Merienda. A chunk of smoked beef brisket, horse reddish, pickles, mustard and bread.

 Mariposa Pool Bar & Restaurant, Cala Llonga

View of the Dalt Vila in Ibiza Town’s Historic Heart

The idea of ‘living the dream’ under the Mediterranean sun becomes reality at the Mariposa. Nestled in the hills behind the Cala Llonga village, and with spectacular views out over the bay, the Mariposa team and regulars will give you the warmest of welcomes. Start your day with a bacon and brie toasted sandwich and café con leche, followed by a dip in the pool, and sip on some cocktails from your poolside lounger. Heaven.

San Antonio Food & Drink  Tapas Restaurant and Lounge Bar One top tip to start with—it is best to book. Tapas is one of the most popular places to eat in San An, and in the height of summer you may have quite a wait to get seated if you haven't booked in advance.

 Mambo No trip to Ibiza is complete without a sunset on the strip, and if you want to do it in the finest style, Mambo has to be the place to go. Their terrace enjoys spectacular views of the sunset, and you’ll be entertained by some of the world’;s top DJs with Mambos nightly pre-party warm up.

 Mar 5 MAR 5 is an elegant venue near the port of San Antonio. On the first floor the restaurant has a wonderful terrace where you can enjoy their Argentinian grill menu. Serving the very best cuts of meat and delicious fish along with their famous homemade desserts - a treat for the palate. The ground floor is for lovers, lovers of gin and tonic and a party, and if you are with somebody you love, all the better. Open until 05:00 am, it offers a variety of musical alternatives: from R & B, House and Techno to Flamenco or Salsa. Summer hours; kitchen 7pm-3am, Club 7pm-5am.

 La Cantina Portmany La Cantina is a bar and restaurant right on San Antonio’s fountains square. A local legend, it has stood in the same spot and run by the same family since way back when it was by some way the biggest building on the waterfront in what was an unrecognisable San Antonio. With a pedigree of such distinction, you won’t find a better place for a traditional Paella or some fresh caught local fish. But it also offers far more. The La Cantina kitchen is also home to 3 specialist chefs each taking care over their respective Thai, Indian and TexMex division.

 David’s Pizzeria

Tapas is all about global flavours, but served in a traditional Spanish Tapas style of small plates perfect for sharing. They have a fantastic range of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free options on the menu too.

David’s is renowned for its Italian-French cuisine and they have a vast menu, including 35 different pizzas to choose from, plus the option of turning any one into Calzone. But if pizza’s not your thing, they also have a selection of pastas, salads, fish and meat dishes to tempt you. David’s also offer a takeaway service and a menu del dia for 12.50€, available till 8.30pm .

Entertainment  Eden Eden’s no expense spared refit has resulted in a club at the forefront of its peers, but retaining the legendary status as one of Ibiza’s seven-sisters superclubs. Browse their range of jetskis, stand up paddle, seadoos, speedboat trips, and the awesome hoverboard and flyboard sessions, from the comfort of their shop, and then take the activity from any of their four beach concessions—which makes them one of the biggest watersports operators in Ibiza. If not near the shop you can also book online via their website.

 Peppers2 Party Bar Dance till dawn? You betcha, and we don’t want any of that ‘I’m too old for all that now’ nonsense either. In Ibiza there is no such thing as too old, and Peppers2 is a fine example of an all night party bar that will see everybody from barely legal to rather regal bopping the night away. See the agenda for special events, but every night you are guaranteed a warm welcome from Chaz and the team. Take a cocktail or two on the terrace, then head inside to show us your moves.

 Donnegans Irish Pub It is hard to know what category to list Donnegans, as they do many things, and do them all very well. Day and night it is a bar with a welcome as warm as the draught Guiness and magners are cold. They show all sports including hurling, and have a great menu of reasonabl;y priced home cooked food from snacks to full meals. But it is perhaps their entertainment that really sets them apart. With a regular line up of live performers with the common denominator of making sure everyone has a great time. Check our agenda and their facebook for events.

“Snuff, Puff, and Party Stuff”, possibly the best and certainly the most accurately descriptive business strap-line we’ve heard in Ibiza. Poppers, seeds, mushroom kits, and more bongs than the collected works of Cheech and Chong. Plus they offer home/hotel delivery—smoking!

With 5 top quality courts (2 clay, 3 artificial grass), a bar, pool, sun-terrace and beautiful garden Viva Tennis is the essential destination on Ibiza to play tennis and relax with friends. Whether you are a complete beginner or regular player their team of international coaches can improve anyone’s game.

Ibiza Town & Figueretes  Father Jacks Our east coast home-from-home. Figueretes finest Father Jack’s offer just about everything you could want in a proper pub, just with added sunshine. Guinness on draught—of course, but also Kilkenny Red Ale and Strongbow from the pumps. Plus, and though it might not be a big one for tourists, it certainly is for us residents—proper pies pasties & sausage rolls. With 5 big screen TVs and 4 satellite streams, whatever your sporting preference, if it’s on, they’ve got it.

San Antonio Bay Food & Drink  Johnny’s Pub, Established 1993 Johnny’s is a Bay institution. Popular with locals and tourists alike, they are open for food to eat in and takeaway from morning through to late—usually very late, and at some point on your holiday, you’ll be glad of that. We locals can’t have their exceptional English breakfast (above) as often as we’d like, but you’re on holiday, so indulge yourself. Just 4,75€ gets you double British sausage and bacon, double egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, fried slice, toast and tea or coffee—plus a portion of jam for reasons we’ve never fully understood.

Vara de Rey 22 dental surgery combines the best technology, equipment and talent bringing you first class dental treatment from specialists you can trust – including emergency appointments. Services also include facial aesthetics, a range of treatments using fillers and botox. For more information see their website http://www.varaderey22.com/

The restaurant that puts the Bom in the Bay, Chef Vipula puts his Sri Lankan heritage into every delicious dal, beautiful biriyani and majestic madras that leaves his kitchen. Unsurprisingly, it can get busy in the summer months, so if planning ahead a booking on their website is a good idea. If exhausted by a hard day on the beach, a take-away service is available to be enjoyed back in the hotel – expect neighbourenvy as those glorious smells waft across the balcony.

 Ilusions Pool Café

 Vara de Rey 22

Think ‘Cool Hand Luke’. Ilusions is a proper old-school Pool Hall with fantastic premium tables and an equally a-list range of Tapas on which to nibble while you play. We don’t want to get sexist about this, but it is the thinking man’s choice while the missus is shopping in Ibiza Town. You’ll be happier, she will be happier, just don’t think too much about your accruing credit card bill while you enjoy a game.

 Royal Plaza The Royal Plaza offer a taste of traditional 4 star quality and service from the days before corporate branding made hotels anonymous. If you are already here you can’t take advantage of the superb accommodation—but remember it for next time. You can however enjoy a meal on their rooftop terrace with unrivalled views over the Dalt Vila. Special, very special.

In the heart of San Antonio Bay, Aperture Terrace is something of an Ibizan secret, a hidden gem. Invisible from the street, just a few footsteps upstairs take you to a chic retreat that could be a million miles from the hustle & bustle below. All the beach club charm, without the competing hordes or the annoying travel, Aperture is accessible luxury on your doorstep. Book a bed by day, dip in the pool and delight at the menu, or make it your sunset choice for cocktails where the only crush is the ice in your mojito. Just don’t tell everybody.

 Relish Restaurant & Lounge Bar Just footsteps from the beach of Cala De Bou, the restaurant and bar extends into a large covered terrace, gardens and a private pool for the exclusive use of relish patrons. Plus on Sundays Relish offers a traditional Sunday Roast. Relish pride themselves on a simple philosophy - good food, cooked well, fairly priced. Booking with immediate confirmation is available on the website.

 More Great Food You’ll also find great food in Donnegans Irish Pub, Playa Bella and Kumharas—all of whom are listed in the entertainment section. Also we have to recommend going local during your stay. Nothing beats a long lazy lunch of fresh cooked paella on the beach with a jug or three of sangria to wash it down.

Fancy some good old family cabaret? The Playa Bella apartments kick off with nightly cash Bingo hosted by our own mister thriller from Aston Villa, Chip, and once your eyes are restored to their regular horizontal position, the night continues with a roster of live cabaret featuring everything from tribute acts to comedy to drag and some very talented musical acts. All this takes place on their beachfront terrace which also has a great range of food available day and night.

 Ibosim Brewhouse Tough to know whether to list Ibosim brewhouse in ‘food & drink’ or ‘things to do’. As bars are hardly in short supply in Ibiza, and Ibosim offers so much more, we decided on the latter. Ibosim is the first and only beer produced in Ibiza. Visit the brewery and enjoy a worthy range of craft beers on the taproom terrace, or take it a step further and ask about their brewery tours. Ibosim are 50m from Port des Torrent beach.

Of course it doesn’t have to be a gift, what better way to fill that last space in the suitcase than with some stock from Grow Submarine’s extensive range of cannabis culture stock? From Rizla’s up, though we warn you that attempting to board a Ryanair flight with a full hydrophonic growing system may incur excess baggage fees.

San José Cala Tarida  Fat Billy’s Beach Bar Welcome to Fat Billy’s Beach Bar, a word from our sponsors ... “We're located a few steps away from Cala Tarida beach in Ibiza. Enjoy our services in a cool, comfortable, relaxing and family friendly setting during the afternoon or evening. Taste our delicious and healthy fresh food menu, which has options for children, vegetarians and vegans. Sit back, relax and indulge in an exquisite cocktail, chilled soft drink, fresh smoothie, juice or alcoholic beverage from our bar.”

Cala Conte/Cala Tarida  Buddha Buddha A venue with two distinctly different personalities. The Buddha Bar is a great locals haunt and ideal for a pit stop on the way to or from the beach. Good food, great prices, modern but unfussy. Walk a few metres into Buddha Buddha, the restaurant and sunset terrace, and you are in a completely different world. A shabby chic style, contemporary but comfortable, spectacular views, and a modern and very well considered Asian Tapas menu.

Shebizan  Amanda O’Riordan Hurrah. It’s Autumn. As the hottest summer, like ever, trails behind us and becomes a distant memory, it’s time to embrace my very favourite fashion time of the year, and the shops are full it. Fabulous Autumn/ Winter wear 2018 has landed. I had a brief mooch around my local shopping mall in North London today and it was all about designer prints, camel coats, red boots and again, timeless snakeskin and leopard print clothing. The reason I love an A/W collection is because it’s always smart, not quite summer, not quite winter but enough to cover up any summer pounds you’ve gained on your holidays. Gone are all the garish yellows, pinks and pastel colours. And bikinis, thank god. Autumnal reds, camel and greys are in full effect, along with textured fabrics and cosy comforts. Strong influenced prints which could easily be mistaken for Versace or Gucci are ruling the rails, and this year it’s all about wearing printed blouses (or shirts) with matching pants (or trews). Yes (she gulps) it’s eye catching, but it’s all about getting noticed in 2018. Strongest ranges this year can be found at Zara, obvs. I walked in, took one look around and asked my daughter to gently guide me out of the store before my credit card became red hot and my husband confiscated it. So, keep your eyes peeled out there on the high street and embrace the red boot and camel coat – which we Zip Up today, and of course I’ll bring you all the latest prints to be seen in over the coming weeks. This week we celebrate 10 years of Victoria Beckham and discover the magic of Magnesium.

 Read Amanda’s fashion blog http:// amandazipsitup.com/

The Camel Coat The traditional Camel Coat has long been considered something of an icon when it comes to outerwear. Smart, flattering, timeless and versatile, it has serious wardrobe staying power. That's why they are in and out of fashion over the years and why it's so important you to get yours this Autumn. I’m not alone in championing the iconic coat. Year in and year out, street-stylers and the

10 Years of Victoria Beckham She might not be able to sing, but love her or loath her, Victoria Beckham has found her fashion voice, and this week she celebrates 10 years in the business with an upcoming show featuring her new collection at London Fashion Week. This week we saw October’s Vogue front cover, featuring VB and her brood of young Beckhams, and controversially without golden balls, David. The rumour mill is in overdrive. It caused heated debates all over, which she probably loved as it keeps brand Beckham very much alive and kicking. She may receive criticism for her relationship and lack of smiles but there’s no denying the success of her fashion empire. Bursting onto the scene in 2009 with her pixie cropped hair and slim fitted dresses, she hasn’t looked back since. She was nervous back then, which was unusual for a Spice Girl who had performed in front of thousands, probably because fashion editors don’t take kindly to ‘celebrities moonlighting as designers’ but VB shone through. Her brand is stocked in 400 stores in 50 countries and the

fashion conscious continue to choose the classic coat in favour of other options, confirming that this universally adored item remains the ultimate investment piece. There are many brands specializing in this wardrobe staple in 2018 from & Other Stories to Zara. Whether you wear yours over black leather jeans and a black polo neck, like I would, or a little black dress and red heels, or even a grey hoodie and grey jeans, the Camel Coat will always look classy and expensive. Lately, camel coats with asymmetric hemlines, oversized silhouettes and belts have caught my eye, but although a classic doublebreasted Crombie will always tick the boxes, sometimes it's good to experiment with different silhouettes to suit your own individual style tastes. Here are some of the very best – all at Zara right now. Expect to pay around £100.

business, spanning womenswear, shoes, bags, denim and eyewear is worth a cool £36m. She obviously has a strong team behind her and has always been careful not to tread on other designer’s toes, pinching ideas. Her success is truly down to honesty, humility and hard work. I personally love everything she’s ever done (including the Spice Girls) from the shapes of her dresses – I have two - to her fabulous sunnies – I own three pairs. People will always be interested in VB because of her background story. A Spice girl who married a (gorgeous) superstar footballer, quit singing, built a fashion empire and had four perfect children – all famous in their own ways now too. We might be envious of her jet set lifestyle but she’s super stylish and when she graces the front cover of any magazine from Vogue to Heat, they sell. Hell, even the young royals wear VB. So, here’s looking forward to her S/S ’19 collection at LFW. All the gossip socials and tabloids are currently trying to destroy her marriage with tales of affairs and being a business brand only. Those Rebecca Loos rumours will be firmly at the back of her mind as her girls strut the catwalk in what will inevitably be another killer collection. Long may she reign.

Magic Magnesium Modern life is packed full of hurdles we need to leap - most of which we have set up ourselves. Pressured careers, parenthood, keeping up with social media, we are constantly spinning plates around the clock. But as our stress levels build up, how do we ensure we don't fall? Other than booking yourself in for a relaxing treatment or mastering easy breathing techniques and meditating, there is an essential vitamin which you probably didn’t realise had a relaxing effect on your well-being. It was recommended to me by a diet guru friend of mine, Jenny Lilly, last year. Known as 'nature's chill pill', Magnesium is essential in keeping the body ticking over nicely. In fact, this mineral is needed in over 600 metabolic functions and is the second most common deficiency in developed countries after Vitamin D. While magnesium intake has dropped over the last five decades, social anxiety has increased. Our bodies need this vitamin to help it restrict stress hormones, reduce inflamma-

tion, improve focus and keep blood sugar levels stable. So, make sure you're getting the daily dose (300mg for men, 270mg for women) via your diet. The best sources include green leafy vegetables – such as spinach, nuts, wholegrain bread, fish, meat and brown rice. I also buy the capsules online and noticed a massive change in my relaxation habits. What could be better? Stress-busting while eating!

Rudimental San Antonio, Ibiza Rocks, by Claire B Last Thursday saw the closing party of Major Tom’s presents Rudimental & Friends at Ibiza Rocks, signifying that summer is starting to come to an end! Rudimental and their friends always have a lot of fun and know how to get the party going and they closed their residency in style, playing some great tunes, spraying the crowd with and giving them cava, whilst they partied from the DJ booth and cannons showered CO2 and confetti into the venue. This year their first pool party residency at Ibiza Rocks has been a great success and they have brought a lot of upcoming talent from their Major Toms label to the venue – it was always lots of fun with great music, so hopefully they’ll be back next year. However, it’s not all over yet at Ibiza Rocks – there are still pool parties several times a week throughout September.

ARIES – Two of Pentacles

Keep an eye on your finance’s this week as this card indicates monetary losses or that you’ll have to pay out for something you’ve not planned for. You’re also juggling social commitments; so take care not to upset family or friends if you can’t make every party or event. Make career or business opportunities your first priority; concentrate on that.

Some say, that when you’re feeling down the only way to go is up. If you’ve been feeling low and really can’t take much more negativity or pain, then take heart. Figuratively speaking, there’s now a break in the clouds. You’ll soon experience a lightening of your mood, and good heavens, you may even at times, break into a smile.

GEMINI – King of Wands (reversed)

Someone you thought you could rely on is likely to let you down and you’ll have trouble hiding your displeasure. You could attract criticism from someone that surprises you. Trust your intuition if you think others are being deceptive; you’re more than likely right. At least your eyes will be opened, and you’ll not waste precious energy on them.

CANCER – Page of Wands

You need to listen to what a younger member of your family is saying, either verbally or non-verbally. Pay attention to their wants and needs as they may be going through a sensitive phase and need extra encouragement. Otherwise, for the rest of you; news of a new business opportunity or a new career option will bring excitement!

LEO – Four of Swords

You’ll value time alone as this card indicates that you’d rather withdraw from life than be sociable. It’s a chance to reflect and re-evaluate some important issues and on what you have discovered lately that’s now making you wary of someone’s motives. You don’t need to neglect yourself totally however, so go for a little self-pampering to feel rejuvenated.

VIRGO – Five of Pentacles

Someone will want to do you a favour and help you with a money matter. You’ve been worrying about what to do about your financial situation; but take heart, things are about to change. Be aware of your thoughts and try not to see everything so negatively. It’s great to have some help, but do something to help yourself also.

LIBRA – Seven of Pentacles

You’ve planted the seeds for a new lifestyle and all you must do is be patient. Plans are happily germinating so have faith. If you’re the creative type, now’s the time to get cracking on an important project as you’ll be inspired to create masterpieces! For more practical Librans, you can confidently invest in a new venture, which looks solid.

SCORPIO – The Sun (reversed)

You may be disappointed if an opportunity you thought was clearly yours slips from your grasp. Try to be pragmatic about it; otherwise you’ll tie yourself up in mental knots, trying to make sense of it. Also, if there’s a situation in life that you’re unhappy about, don’t put up with it for much longer. You need to be honest.

SAGITTARIUS – Eight of Wands (reversed)

You might have trouble keeping the peace with someone this week. Arguments could lead to arrangements being cancelled so I would wait a short while before making any concrete plans, especially if they involve travel. The last thing you need is to be out of pocket as well! Business or property deals are also likely to be held up.

CAPRICORN – Two of Swords (reversed)

 Rev. Dr Peter Pimentel Angels and demons are everywhere in the Bible especially in the New Testament documents mostly all dated within the 1st century AD. The thematic verse in the New Testament is this: “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14). Angels are here referred to as “spirit” because they are spirits! Angels are not physical. They are not of this dimension. God himself is called “The Father of Spirits”. (Hebrews 12:9). The Bible is aware of many different kinds or species of angels. The books of the Bible have intimate knowledge of the spirit

realm. Together with the “Angels of the Face” (i.e., the Angels of the Face of God”) the “Seraphim” (= The Fiery Ones) and “Cherubim” are the most awesome as they are in the closest proximity to God. Then there are “The Holy Ones” and “The Ancient Ones” (literally, “The Elders”). Jude, the brother of Jesus, is aware of “Thousands upon Thousands of His Holy Ones”. (Jude 14). The Apocalypse, the last book of the Bible, mentions “the twenty-four Elders”. (Revelation 4:10). The Apocalypse also mention “The Thrones” as an order of angels. The Tsevaot (= “The Host”) refers sometimes to the host of

heaven i.e., the planets or sometimes to the Army of Israel and sometimes to a spiritual army. The three kinds of “host” are closely related according to the Bible. St. Paul, the author of several letters in Bible has detailed knowledge of the angelic and demonic realms. He refers to different orders of angels by their Greek names: “Archai” (can be translated as “Rulers”), “exousia” (sometimes translated as “Authorities”), “Kosmokratores” (“Cosmic Powers”), dunamis” (Powers), “kyriotetes” (sometimes translated as “Dominions) and “pneumatikos” (=

“Spirituals”). According to the Bible, not all “spirits” are good. There is an evil contingent known as “demons”. St. Paul warns us to be vigilant. He says: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the spiritual realms” (Ephesians 6: 10-12).

 Kingsley Fobi, playing for Formentera last year

Kingsley Fobi Joins UD Watford loan Ghana’s under-20 international for the season Kingsley Fobi has been secured on loan from Watford for the season and will strengthen the right flank of the team. It’s not the first time Kingsley has appeared in the Balearic division Segundo B, as he played for Formentera last season, again on loan from Watford; the U-20 international delighted the home crowd until a serious knee injury took him off pitch for 6 months. Aged just 18, his quality in defence caught the attention of Italian club Udinese Calcio, a team associated with Watford FC, who finally brought him onboard. The agreements between these clubs to make transfers at zero cost saw him initially play for Granada B, then Formentera before his injury. Kingsley Fobi is a young rising star having already debuted with the Ghanaian team in the African Cup and U-20 World Cup.
