This term we went on our school tour to Cuskinny Activity Centre. We went to Cuskinny on the 20th of May. We were able to do so many fun activities. When we arrived, we were put into our group for the day. Then we started with our first activity. First, we went grass sledging. It was so cool. We had to sit on a small sledge with wheels and we went racing down the hill. We even did a relay. Then we did the Squirrel obstacle course which was a balancing obstacle course. After lunch we did the Forest Maze Challenge Course. We had to climb under nets and crawl through tunnels. We really enjoyed this activity. Our last activity was ziplining. Our favourite activity was the ziplining activity because it was really fast and fun. We had a great day on our School Tour.

On the 20th of May, fourth and fifth class went on a school tour in Cuskinny. We had lots of fun. We travelled there by bus. When we boarded the bus, we heard the rain pounding against the roof and the windows on the top deck were being
battered by the branches. As we got off the bus, we had to climb a big hill. When we reached the top of the hill, we put our bags under a gazebo and lined up. We were split up into groups. Then we climbed another hill where we saw the grass sledges. They were compact orange boxes with treads and two levers which were the brakes. We were split into 4 groups. We went down a few times. Then we had race. We zoomed down the hill at astonishing speed. My favourite activity was the Forest Maze. After a break we went past the hill for grass sledging and lined up in front of a small forest. There were two courses. We did Course 2 first. We had to go under nets, over logs, through tyres and more. Before we started Course 1 the instructor challenged us to do it in under 10 minutes. We did it in under 8 minutes! When we came back, we had lunch and headed for the low ropes. When we got there the instructor told us about the checkpoints, they were small platform. If you fell off you had to go to the last checkpoint. The first time I went on I didn’t fall off. I finished early so I went around again. Overall, we had a great day and I really enjoyed it. It was probably the best school tour yet.

In May we started learning about Japan. It took a lot of time and effort to find information about the country. I helped my team by translating English to Japanese. Before we began researching our Project we decided on the topics we would use. Our group decided to research the history, geography, animals and culture of Japan. It was very interesting to learn about the history of Japan. We organised our topics on a large sheet. We glued our cards with information on our topics to the large sheet. We also put some pictures on our sheet as well. When we were finished we got to present our projects to the class. Our class got to ask us questions on our project when we finished presenting. It was really fun to do this project. I hope we do something like this again.

On the 11th of May we went on our Creative Schools Trip. We went to
University College Cork and the Firkin Crane. In the morning everyone came to class and we got ready for the trip. When everyone was ready we went to Cork on the bus. When we got to the campus we walked to the Glucksman Gallery for our first activity. We went into a room in the gallery and we were all given a page each. On this page we drew a map and then we went outside and started drawing a map of the campus. We included the bridge, trees, the grass and animals on our map. After our visit to UCC we went to the Firkin Crane for a dance class. On our walk to the Firkin Crane we saw the Shandon Tower. We learned many dances with our dance teacher. At the end we put all our dances together and performed in front of the stage. We had a really fun day on our trip.
