We have been learning about the rainforest. We learned how to use the iPad to research about lots of different animals like the Macaw, the Black-and White Colobus and The Emerald tree boa. We made hanging monkey’s, flying dragonflies and crocodiles in art. We also

learned about the different layers of the rainforest where different animals live. The Macaw lives in the Emergent Layer, the Sloth lives in the Canopy Layer, the Lizard lives in the Understory Layer and the Anteater lives on the

Forest Floor. My favourite part of learning about the rainforest was that each of us got to pick an animal and complete a report for it for our Literacy. Dylan chose the panda and Shay chose the orangutan.

We learned how to plant seeds. We planted them in small pots which we keep in the classroom until they are ready to be put in our school garden. We planted Carrots, Chives, Spinach, Strawberries and Potatoes. Adrian’s favourite part was putting in the tiny

seeds and getting his hands dirty and making a mess on the table! Aidan’s favourite part was watching the seeds sprout. Keep tuned in to hear all about how they grow.

Great fun was had for World Book Day! We dressed up as our favourite character from a book, walked to the bookshop to spend our vouchers and even got to have some ice-cream in the sun! We loved the assembly where we got to see everyone’s outfits and see all our friends.

M.Eoghan’s 3rd class was buzzing with excitement. For two weeks the boys became researchers, doctors, linguists, detectives, vets, artists, psychologists. Interesting, right? Each reading station was working on the Hidden Message Project. The boys were reading extraordinary books about extraordinary children. They were trying to solve the mystery about bad stripes which appeared on Camilla Cream, they were figuring out why the elephants weren’t allowed to join the pet club and they were wondering why little Doug doesn’t like hugs. They’ve learned lots of new words and they draw fantastic pictures about their books. They were working hard as a team, helping each other, showing kindness and friendship. By the end of second week each group presented their posters together in front of the whole class uncovering the hidden messages. They’ve learned about the importance to be yourself, to respect each other and to be kind no matter what! Their teachers are very proud of them and we are all looking forward to our next project.

Pigs are the World’s Best Pets --- Jack McCarthy

I believe that pigs are cute, loyal, and cuddly. I don’t think they should be killed for meat. Everyone should own a pig. They are so cute when they are small. I think they would make a great pet for kids. Secondly, pigs are so cuddly. They don’t need a huge enclosure. Pigs give you hugs when you are sad. Finally, pigs are very loyal. They are really easy to feed. They look you straight in the eye – no other animal does this. There are 677 million pigs in the world and they’re so cute!

Being a Teacher is the Best Job --- Callum Quish Without a doubt being a teacher is the best job! First of all, you can work with kids which is super fun. Did you know that there are close to eighty-five million teachers worldwide? Next, everyone is different which means you will learn something new from every student and you would be happy. Finally, you can help people learn something new every single day. Why would anyone not want to be a teacher?!!

Children Should Learn

Another Language in School --- Adam Wojtal

There are roughly 6,500 languages in the world. In this piece I will talk about why children should learn another language in school. Firstly, surely you will agree that speaking other languages is useful. If you go on holidays you can talk with people and make friends. Other people will be jealous and curious. You will feel comfortable when you can understand what other people say. If you’re really comfortable you can even work in that country! You have 6,500 languages or more to choose from!!!

Harry Potter is the Best -

-- Caleb Wilson

My argument is that Harry Potter is the most exciting book ever. Surely you agree with me that doing magic tricks and being invisible are the best things ever. Harry is very cool because he has a wand and casts magic spells. He has a cool broom that he can fly on. He also goes to a magic school called Hogwarts where he learns new spells! My conclusion is that Harry Potter is the best! Being an Engineer is Good

--- Oliver Guz

Aliens are Real --- Emilio

Krutulis

Aliens are real and in this piece I will tell you why. 65% of Americans believe that there is intelligent life on other planets. I believe there are aliens in Area 51. Why else wouldn’t we be able to go into Area 51? There have been photos taken of UFOs. There was one I saw taken in around 1950. If it is not a UFO what else could it be? I personally believe that aliens do exist and you should too!!

Rugby is the Best Sport ---

James McGrath

Rugby is clearly the best sport. Firstly, in rugby you can use both your hands and your feet. You can also test your strength in rugby. This is great training and exercise. Secondly, in rugby I think it’s easier to pass the ball. You can score tries with your team and have lots of fun with your teammates. There are 3.2 million people in the world that play rugby. There is no doubt that rugby is the best sport!

Did you know that there are 7.5 million engineers in the world? Without a doubt, being an engineer is good and is very helpful if you have tools. Surely you will agree that being an engineer is helpful. If you’re an engineer and your car breaks down you can fix it if you have tools. You could also help your friends if their car breaks down.

Secondly, I strongly feel that if you are an engineer you could help a lot of people and that would be kind. Without a doubt, engineers can help you. If you were an engineer you could design cars and maybe even build them.
