15 The layering of space

The dimension of the home space can be decided by the amalgamation and permeation between different enclosed interfaces or sometimes by men’s visual association. The variation of the space dimension can make the plane layout more flexible while enhancing the sense of scale and depth of the space. In this case, the most remarkable highlight goes to the courtyard design in the centre of the layout. The designer designs it as the central pivot of the traffic stream line, a patio providing the interior space with natural lights as well as the visual focus. Moreover, the plants in the courtyard also increase the ecological significance of the interior space. The diversity of the plants and the transparency of the partition in the courtyard effectively intensify the sense of hierarchicy of the whole space.
