pets Toby asks; “Will you take me home?” This month’s fantastic feline, rescued by local charity Animal Accident Rescue Unit, is appealing to readers for a home: “Hello, I’m Toby, about 8 years old and a happy, long-haired tabby boy. My fosterer says I’m a friendly lap cat, relaxed with new people, play like a kitten - but that my favourite place is a warm lap!”

Green Day’s American Idiot
Toby has been waiting a while for a home, so if this could be with you, contact the Adoption Officer on 0115-9985063 after 6pm. This number must not be used for any other enquiry or emergency. Alternatively, email this volunteer at admin@aaru.org.uk – who will reply as soon as possible. As with all the charity’s cats, Toby is ready to move in: having been “snap” blood-tested for FIV/FeLV at the vet – for which he is negative/clear. He is worm and flea-treated, neutered, micro-chipped, litter trained plus vaccinated – though his new owner needs to continue his annual vaccinations. Animal Accident Rescue Unit recommends its cats stay indoors for 6-8 weeks, allowing time to bond with new owners and homes, plus kept in at night. All potential adoptions need a successful homecheck, with no rehoming on or near busy roads unless the cat is indoor only. The charity does not deal with healthy strays and unwanted pets; only animals and birds needing veterinary help, either neglected, injured or vulnerable, eg pregnancy, age. Anyone finding an animal needing emergency transport to a vet should call, leaving a detailed message, for the volunteer telephone operators on 0115-9321555. For details on volunteering, fostering or the lovely animals awaiting homes visit www. animalaccident.org.uk.

At its meeting in March, Gedling Borough Council approved its budget and spending plans for the year ahead. Items approved in the budget included a council tax freeze for the third year running, a new visitor's centre for Gedling Country Park and a pay award to all but the most senior members of staff. The council is faced with further reductions in the money it receives from Central Government amounting to £2.4 million. This is on top of a £1.9 million cut in Government grant that has already taken place.
Call Tony on
Since 2011, the council has been successful in delivering £4.2 million of savings and plans to invest in a new visitor centre, toilets and play facilities at Gedling Country Park; provision of new cemetery land at Carlton Cemetery and a replacement artificial football pitch at Redhill Leisure Centre.
DMI ROOFING & PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
Free swimming sessions and a free period of bulky waste collections, along with a range of activities to create new homes and jobs were all part of a wide ranging agenda debated by Gedling councillors. Also approved is a pay review of all but the most senior members of staff, to bring the pay of Gedling employees closer to the average pay of other councils.

Gedling Borough Council Budget Plans
John Clarke added "Despite funding cuts, we remain ambitious for Gedling residents and are doing everything possible to kickstart the building of more houses and the creation of more jobs. We're also continuing our good work to support the most vulnerable in society and create a more compassionate Gedling. This extends to treating our own staff more fairly in terms of what we pay them which at the moment is significantly below what other Councils pay and what they deserve to be paid. We want the very best for Gedling residents and we can't achieve that if we continue to pay the worst"

Gedling Country Park has been officially open for a year and to celebrate the anniversary, Leader of Gedling Borough Council, Councillor John Clarke planted a commemorative tree in the centre of the park next to the memorial stone. In its first 365 days the park has had over 30,000 visitors who have walked, cycled, ran and walked their dogs around the former colliery site. The park boasts one of the top renewable energy solar farms in the country which over the last year has generated enough electricity to power 1,800 homes.

The future of the park is also very bright with the announcement of plans for a £900,000 visitor’s centre and the installation of a children’s play area. Consultation has begun on the visitors centre and residents can now have their say on how the centre should be used by visiting the Gedling Borough Council website. Plans are also in place for toilets to be installed in the near future. The Friends of the Gedling Country Park group, set up when the park opened, has attracted nearly 900 members. The group have been involved in a number of projects to support the council to improve the park. Over the last year they’ve helped plant over 450 trees, organised clean ups, volunteering days and raised funds to help build a children’s play area in the park.

Magazines is 10 Still going strong and getting stronger thanks to all our advertisers, readers and contributors. It’s hard to believe it was 10 years ago that we started ng magazines, or ‘ng5’ as we were known back then!!
With us from the start... “I set up my business at the same time as ng mags and have been with them right from the start. They have been the best form of advertising for me, and the staff are always friendly and ready to help, such a useful magazine”. Mark Maggs - All Weathers Plumbing
“I met Cat & Ali 10 years ago when our business manager at the bank introduced us. They have always been good to me and I get a lot of customers from the mags. Some have been with me the whole 10 years and I’m still getting regular ones now” Andy Crowley - AKJ Contracts.
10 years of helping local businesses, providing a service to our readers and supporting the local community, it has been an amazing journey. We started distributing the ng5 in Arnold in May 2006 to 5000 homes and businesses, and I mean distributing - we used to post all the mags ourselves in the early days. This would be impossible now because we deliver 8 magazines to 93,000 so rely on a lot of our readers who have become distributors for us. We would like to say a great big thank you to all our readers, distributors, contributors and advertisers, without whom this would not have been possible.

eview: Deadpool R ny Title?! n u P A ? g tin You Expec e r e W t a h W The sown up mouth job has been ripped off, the badass blood masking suit has been put on, and finally we can all say: the merc with the mouth has officially and marvellously been put onto the big screens. The story of Deadpool is an incredibly simple one. When it comes down to it this film is just a good ol’ story of love and revenge, but with a Chimichanga flavoured twist. The simplicity of the story is in no way a bad point for this movie. The plot works perfectly by giving Deadpool a vehicle to exhibit just why he is such a beloved character. It puts him in plenty of situations where Deadpool’s special kind of brutality and quipage shines. And boy does it shine brightly. But it wouldn’t be any fun seeing Deadpool strut his stuff if the guy playing him wasn’t the right fit. Thankfully there was never even a whisper of an issue with Ryan Reynolds’ portrayal of the merc with the mouth. He was born to play Deadpool (properly, we’re all looking at you X Men Origins: Wolverine). Reynolds really does the character justice, getting the physicality spot as well as the genuine nature of the character. In the wrong hands, Deadpool could have come across as a stupid, gun toting, potty mouthed idiot. Don’t get me wrong, he still is a stupid, gun toting, potty mouthed idiot, but a real, loveable one thanks to Reynolds’ inherent charm and charisma. Amazingly faithful interpretation of beloved characters aside, this film is just incredibly good fun and hilarious. From the smart use of the opening credits, you know you are in for a ride full of laughs. From slapstick to incredibly crude to talking straight to the audience, Deadpools arsenal of comedic weaponry is both vast and highly effective. The jokes come thick and fast, full of self-deprecating humour, as Deadpool pokes fun at the superhero world in general. This film is one of the best comedies I’ve seen in a while.
The action is stylish, fluid and brutal from the outset and it doesn’t let up throughout the film. Taking full advantage of the 15 age certificate Deadpool doesn’t even hint at holding back, with moments of gore that will force your mouth open in both shock and laughter at how insanely cool what just happened was. Overall this film is a blast. From start to finish you are cracking up with laughter, and when you’re not giggling like a five year old at the latest inventive spin on trash talk, you are left eyes wide open at just how cool and badass they have made Deadpool as he puts down a ridiculous amount of fools. One of the best adaptations of a character I may have ever seen, from design to writing to acting, and one of the best superhero films I have ever seen. Deadpool = 9/10 © Sam Burton (aged 18)

Mapperley War Memorial by Bob Massey
During the First World War there were many bloody battles, none more so than the battles of the Somme in 1916. Thousands of men were lost there and the casualty lists filled the papers of the time. When the war was finally over, those given medals were presented with their awards. However, many died before this honour could be bestowed. There were many, many thousands of ordinary men and some women who had died in the conflict that had no recognition for their sacrifice. In the 1920s, the men who had survived and returned, began to relate what had happened to them to their comrades. Public feeling ran high. Some form of memorial must be made to these soldiers, sailors and airmen. War memorials were proposed. These would form the centre of remembrance in towns and villages across the country. Public subscriptions were set up to raise the necessary money and a suitable place sought for the erection of the memorials.
building to commence. A small strip of land next to the Judges bakery (now the Bread and Bitter pub) was given to the fund by Lord Carnavon. This is an appropriate place as Mapperley is half in the city and half in the county and the position of the memorial was right on the boundary between the two. It is at the junction of Woodthorpe Drive and Mapperley Plains and is just inside the boundary of Gedling Borough Council. William Richard Gleave of Hillcrest, Thurgarton, was a prominent architect in Nottingham at the time, with offices at 8, St. Peter’s Church Walk. Gleave was appointed to design the memorial and the project was now well on its way. Names of those who had died in the conflict and who were resident in the Mapperley area were to be inscribed on Gleaves new edifice. These names were submitted by the general public and not taken from any casualty lists. As a result, it is often found that many men did not have their names inscribed as no one submitted them at the time. Memorials are therefore only an indication of the town or villages sacrifice of young men to the war. The Mapperley foundation stone was laid by Mr F. Berrymam, Mayor of Nottingham, on Saturday 11th February 1922 in a ceremony performed in front of several hundred people. The inscription on the memorial reads, ‘Erected by voluntary subscription in memory of those who fell in the Great War 1914-1919. Remember with thanksgiving the true and faithful men who in these years of war went forth from this parish for God and right. The names of those who returned not again, are here inscribed to be honoured for evermore.’
In Mapperley, the subscription was started and by 1921 had raised enough money for
The design is now a grade II listed building containing a list of 87 men from Mapperley who served and died in the Great War.
I am researching the history of Mapperley and would be very pleased to hear from anyone with more details or information. Email: bob.m.massey@gmail. com or post via NG5 magazine.

SKN Heritage Museum is more than a museum. It’s a unique organisation dedicated to commemorating and celebrating the Caribbean contribution to life in Nottingham. History and heritage isn’t only found in the pages of a book or in a museum, it’s about our lives, the things we do everyday, the objects we use and treasure and the traditions and values we hold dear. Through a range of exhibitions and events the SKN Heritage Museum brings to life the history of Nottingham’s Caribbean culture. The museum is about the lives of people, ordinary people with extraordinary stories. With your help, we want to tell these stories. We are inviting volunteers to participate and contribute to the work of our museum, discovering and sharing Caribbean history, heritage and culture in fun, exciting and original ways. You don’t need any experience or qualifications, just a willingness to learn. Who knows? It could even be the first step in an exciting new career. Whether you want to help us with research and documentation, or simply have a story or artefact you think needs sharing, please get in touch with us at sknheritagemuseum@outlook.com, or call us on 07469 189550.

Go Al Fresco! Summer has finally arrived and it’s time to head out for bit of al fresco dining. Who doesn’t love a picnic or “pique-nique” as it first appeared in the 1692 edition of the “Origines de la Langue Française”. The piquenique was a kind of French version of the “bring your own” style meal, with everyone contributing a course or wine. The first reference in English in 1748, suggested the “picnic” was a meal eaten outdoors but a more elegant affair than the traditional farm-worker’s meal eaten during a break from the harvesting. Whatever its origins,
most of us can’t resist the lure of a sunny afternoon in the park or by the river. The challenge for us, of course, is the Great British summer weather. As soon as the sun comes out and the grass is dry enough to sit on, we need to be ready to seize the moment, grab the picnic rug and head out. Take a break from the traditional cheese & pickle and meat-paste sandwich staples and try one of these really simple, but a bit special, picnic suggestions to make the most of those fleeting summer days.

Picnic Sandwich Loaf This is one of my favourite picnic sandwiches, inspired by the young Irish singer and foodie, Donal Skehan. It is a bit more effort than your usual butty but well worth it (amount of filling does depend on the size of your loaf!) 1 long ciabatta loaf, sliced in half lengthways Handful of baby spinach leaves Few slices of roasted red pepper from a jar 4 slices prosciutto or Serrano ham Handful of basil Ball of Mozzarella, sliced Half a red onion, finely sliced 3 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar 2 garlic cloves, crushed 1 tsp Dijon mustard Slice the ciabatta loaf in half lengthways, brush with olive oil on the cut surface and place, crust side down, under a hot grill for a few minutes until slightly browned and lightly toasted. Put the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic and mustard in a bowl, then whisk them together until combined. Drizzle the bottom slice with about half the dressing and then arrange the rest of the ingredients in layers, starting with the spinach and red onion. Drizzle over the rest of the dressing
and place the other half of the ciabatta on top. Press down on the sandwich to squash all the layers together, wrap in greaseproof paper or baking parchment and tie it together with string. If you have something suitable to place on top for half an hour (I used a heavy wooden chopping board) that helps to stop the sandwich coming apart when sliced. Cut and serve in slices for the perfect picnic snack
Easy Lamb Koftas If you have a portable BBQ or can find a disposable one, add a hot dish to your picnic with these really simple Koftas. 500g minced lamb 2 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp ground coriander Handful of chopped fresh Coriander 3 fat garlic cloves crushed 2 tsps dried Chilli Flakes (or chopped fresh red chillies) 1 tbsp chopped mint Salt and freshly ground black pepper oil for brushing Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and combine well. Divide into 8 balls, then roll each ball on a board to form a sausage shape. Thread onto 4 metal skewers and brush with oil. Cook on a hot griddle or on your portable
barbecue for 4/5 mins each side. Ensure the meat is well sealed before turning to ensure they don’t stick to the grill. Serve with natural yoghurt, salad and flatbreads.
Portable Raspberry Ripple Cheesecake How do you transport a cheesecake in a picnic basket? Easy, make it in jar! 150g buttery biscuit (I used Fox’s Butter Crinkles) 150g cream cheese 150g double cream 5 tbsp icing sugar 2 tsp vanilla extract 500g raspberries 6 smallish lidded jars (jam jars for example) Blitz the biscuits to crumbs in a blender or place in a freezer bag or similar and crush with a rolling pin. Divide the biscuits between the jars. Whisk the cream cheese, cream, 4 tbsp icing sugar and vanilla extract until softly whipped. Tip half the raspberries and the remaining sugar into another bowl and purée with a fork. Ripple the purée through the cream and divide between the jars. Top each cheesecake with remaining raspberries, secure the lids and chill until it’s time to go. Transport in a cool box or bag.
Oaks restaurant and bar is well situated in the heart of Nottingham. They serve simple, locally sourced meat cooked over a wood fired grill, and boy do they do a good job! As you would expect from the name there is an abundance of oak everywhere. From quirky tables and chairs to the walls! Large chandeliers of candles, along with the open flame grill, give this place a really cosy, relaxed feel. Service was friendly and attentive and Marcos, the manager, made sure all the customers were well looked after. This is the second review where the toilets are a must see - must be the new thing! The menu, while not massive, is well chosen. In our opinion, better to have a select few choices but done well, than a huge array of mediocre offerings. To start, we had some lovely quail Scotch eggs and a real beauty, baked Lincolnshire poacher cheese with toast. Despite many attempts, we have been unable to replicate this at home. We followed this with a tasty honeydew beer and black pepper chicken that has clearly been well marinated and king prawns with herbs and chilli which was really impressive. The grilled chicken bites and hand-cooked chips were “like no other chicken we have ever tasted” according to the children - high praise indeed! Even the desserts are made with locally sourced ingredients. We enjoyed apple tarte tatin with toffee apple ice cream along with a selection of other delicious ice creams.
Liquid refreshments are chosen with equal care. There is a great selection of craft beers and for all those cocktail lovers out there, the restaurant’s range of unique cocktails is available for just £4.50 each between Monday and Friday – happy days! OAKS also has several other offers during the week. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays diners can enjoy Rump Day – an 8oz Sirloin steak, handcooked chips and a glass of wine for £13.50. Diners on Saturdays can soak up the weekend from 12pm till 4pm with Bottomless Brunch, a choice of tasty brunch options with the option of unlimited Bloody Mary or Prosecco. The restaurant also offers a special Sunday roast menu, where kids eat free and meals start from £10. With live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, there are lots of reasons to give this place a go. Great quality food, bubbles, beer and a brilliant atmosphere – what’s not to like?

You As A Brand When considering your future, think of yourself as a product. You are trying to sell your expertise and skills to companies. It will be harder to convince someone to buy a product when its packaging is haphazard and sloppy. It is the same with yourself – maintaining a professional image is key. Things to consider: • What you wear – Maintaining a smart appearance is not only useful in creating a good first impression, but can also boost your confidence. • Your body language – Even if you are shaking with nerves, try to disguise it. Giving the appearance of confidence is more important than actually being confident. • Your speech – Try to keep your voice calm and controlled and don’t accidentally interrupt or talk over anyone else. • Email Addresses – It is extremely important to have a professional email address. Email addresses such as ‘poopsy@…’ and ‘missbabyface@…’ (both real life examples…) are inappropriate for anything professional. Create a separate professional email account if necessary. Something simple like ‘firstname.surname@…’ or a variation of this is best. When is this relevant? • Online – Employers are now using social media to browse the lives of interviewees so think about whether a post may come back to haunt you before you put it on there! • Interviews – Both telephone and face to face. Even when conducting telephone interviews (which many employers do in the first instance) you should be dressed as if you were in the same room. This will help you get into the moment and react professionally. Think of it as a method actor – playing the part of an assured, experienced professional. Just remember that you may meet potential contacts or employers at any time so always be polite and confident and try to dress in an appropriate way for important events.

Happy Birthday! 30 years young… Would you like to join us ? The Rotary Club of Mapperley was formed in May 1986 with some founding members still very active in our enthusiastic club. The name of the club was changed to The Rotary Club of Mapperley and Arnold in 2012 to reflect the area in which the club operates. We currently have 41 members and we are continuously seeking new members, people who wish to participate in helping their local community. We meet weekly at Mapperley Golf Club to fulfil the first Rotary guiding principle of developing friendships and fellowships as an opportunity for service to our local community, our nation and at international level. There are now 1.2 million Rotarians in 34,000 clubs in over 200 countries worldwide. Over recent years, the Rotary Club of Mapperley and Arnold has raised over £150,000, which has been passed on to many worthy causes. Some of the local charities we have helped include: Nottingham Hospice, Sutherland House School for Autistic Children, Outward Bound, Arnold Scouts and Brownies, Derrymount School for young people with learning difficulties,Young Carers, Nottinghamshire Deaf Society, Killisick School and the Alzheimer's Society. Pupils at Porchester Junior School have been taking lessons on how to ride their bikes safely with First Grade Coaching Ltd. The aim of the classes was to teach the children basic bike skills, safety awareness and for more advanced cyclists, lessons on road safety. Working with trained coaches in a safe environment the children worked on starting and stopping, turning signals and performing a controlled emergency stop. Neil Smith of First Grade Coaching said there are many advantages for children taking part. “Bikeability is today’s cycle training programme. It’s like cycling proficiency, but better! It’s about gaining practical skills and understanding how to cycle on today’s roads. It gives everyone the skills and confidence for all kinds of cycling and it’s also a great way to get around, get some exercise, and reduce the amount of time spent stuck in a car, or on the bus!” There are three Bikeability levels designed to improve the children’s cycling skills. Levels 1, 2 and 3 take trainees from the basics of balance and control, all the way to planning and making an independent journey on the roads.

Carlton Male Voice Choir
We have the Flint MVC coming on 16th July for a joint concert with us at St. Paul's Church, Carlton and on the 23rd July we are singing at the Bonnington Theatre on High Street Arnold for the Mayor's Charity.
Bingham and District Choral Society Following our Spring Concert performed jointly with Southwell Choral Society in Southwell Minster on 7th May, we hope to round off a successful year with a short, four-week singing course. This would be an ideal opportunity for non-members to get a flavour of singing with the choir and perhaps help them to decide whether they might like to join us for our 2016-2017 season beginning in September. Provisional dates for the short course are 18th May, 1st, 8th and 15th June. It will be informal and fun, culminating in a small concert for family and friends on the last evening. Guy Turner, our Musical Director, will be in charge and the sessions will take place at Carnarvon Primary School, Nursery Road, Bingham NG13 8EH from 7.15 to 9.30 pm. The total cost will be £20 per person. If you are interested or would like to find out more, please contact Janet Chapman on 0115 9332834.
Eastwood Collieries’ Male Voice Choir is one of a handful of original colliery
male voice choirs surviving in the country. No stranger to prestigious venues such as the Royal Concert Hall and Albert Hall in Nottingham, Derby Cathedral and the Royal Albert Hall in London, the choir is equally at home in more modest settings. We especially enjoy the intimacy that promotes a very real emotional connection between choristers and audience - as well as allowing a sense of fun to develop at the appropriate moment! We delight in helping local charities raise much needed funds for their own needs. The choir has a very busy 2016 and in the next couple of months will be performing at: Alfreton Grange Arts College (21 May); Belper Arts Festival (St Peter’s Church 28 May); St Mary’s Church, Eastwood (5 June) with guests Braintree Male Voice Choir. Visit the web site at www.ecmvc.org – and come along and give us a try – new members always welcome!

Flash Bang Wallop!
Musicians get to bang on their own bass drum A year of fund-raising has enabled West Bridgfordbased Nottingham Concert Band to buy its own bass drum. The instrument was put through its paces on Saturday during a concert in Gedling’s All Hallows Church. ‘The concert was called A Splash of Spring Colour so we had great fun choosing a colour-themed programme,’ says Music Director Robert Parker. ‘And, to mark the drum’s debut, we played a medley from the musical Half a Sixpence. Remember the line ‘bang it on the big bass drum’ from Flash Bang Wallop? Well, the audience did!’ Nottingham Concert Band’s ‘drum fund’ was supported by Notts County Councillors Liz Plant and Gordon Wheeler, who both made donations from their Divisional Fund allowances. Now in its 25th year, Nottingham Concert Band is an independent community wind-band comprising sixty or so adult members across woodwind, brass and percussion sections. Rehearsals are held weekly in West Bridgford and enquiries about membership and concerts are always welcome call Jeff or Jill on 01949 860126, e-mail music@ nottinghamconcertband.org or log-on to www. nottinghamconcertband.org

Half of the grant money will go towards concessionary theatre tickets for younger and older age groups of residents. Young people aged 14-24 can benefit from 50% off ticket prices and older residents, aged 60 plus, can enjoy the same discount. The remaining £2,500 will be used to commission outreach educational theatre work in particular communities of the Gedling borough, including Netherfield, Newstead, Killisick, Daybrook and Bestwood Village.

Gedling Borough Council has given a £5,000 grant to Nottingham Playhouse to benefit borough residents over the next 12 months.
The discounted tickets initiative aims to make theatre more accessible to residents, whilst the outreach educational theatre will give members of communities a chance to take part in theatre workshops, which boost confidence and could provide a new hobby. Councillors Clarke and Fox released a joint statement, saying “This is an exciting partnership which we hope will grow in future and enrich residents’ lives. Theatre and the arts can have big positive effects on overall wellbeing and the community outreach theatre is a great opportunity to put this into practice.”

Even greater circulation for the Notts Guided Walks booklets
Such is the growing demand for the Notts Guided Walks booklet, its circulation for 2016 has been pushed up to nearly 7,000 across the County, backed by a comprehensive web-site. Once again generously funded mainly by the Big Lottery, the Partnership has distributed its booklets to County and City libraries, information centres, visitor centres and country parks throughout the County. Most of the walks are short – up to about 4 or 6 miles, but with a few of 7 to 8 miles. As the booklets contain a large section of Health Walks for less able or recovering walkers, many health centres will receive copies too. These shorter walks are taken by trained leaders and organised by the county boroughs as part of a national scheme. Each of these guided walks will also be featured on the Notts Guided Walks’ website at www.nottsguidedwalks.co.uk which is updated with new walks during the year. It contains several well-illustrated selfguided walks in attractive areas for those who prefer to walk at their own pace, using downloaded instructions. Click on the ‘SelfGuided’ section of the web-site for further information. Just a small amount of regular exercise can make a huge improvement to a sedentary lifestyle, especially when linked to the friendly social outdoor atmosphere of a small walking group. Life is good for walkers!

New Text Messaging Service People living and working in three rural areas of Nottinghamshire can now receive news, information and appeals from their local police team straight to their mobile phone, thanks to a new text messaging pilot launched this month.
Nottinghamshire Police to share information with thousands of local people at the click of a button, bringing officers closer to the communities they serve and improving how they let local people know about the work being done to tackle rural crime in their area.”
Anyone living in the Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood areas can register to receive free text message alerts from officers about issues affecting their area, including information about recent incidents and advice to help them avoid becoming victims of crime.
The pilot will be run using the Neighbourhood Alert community messaging system which Nottinghamshire Police already use to share information via email with tens of thousands of residents and businesses across Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire Police have launched the pilot thanks to funding provided by the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Paddy Tipping. Mr Tipping said: “Many people living and working in rural areas struggle to receive information from their local police in a timely enough way to be able to protect themselves as they are so heavily reliant on unstable mobile internet connections to access information online, through social media and by email. “This new service
