NFAA 20 PINS PROGRAMS - BACK ORDERS

I wish to apologize to everyone waiting for their 20 pin order. The pro gram has gone over very well in 1981 and I want to thank everybody for their patience and understanding with back orders. The problem being the length of time it takes to receive pins, that NFAA has ordered, from the supplier We are sorry about this problem but please bare with us as your orders will be shipped just as soon as these pins arrive at NFAA.

-------------- —ATTE NTIO N------------------Due to the NFAA having to change the date of our Indoor Nationals from March 20-21 to March 13-14, 1982 we have created a conflict with a NFAA sanctioned tournament, the Milwaukee Centennial Shoot. We at NFAA regret that this has happened. This is to notify you that the Milwaukee tournament coordinators have rescheduled their tournament to March 20, 1982. It will be a one day shoot due to the rescheduling. For futher information check the next issue of Bow and Arrow magi zine.

Happy Holidays to All,

THINGS TO DO IN DARRINGTON AREA 1982 NFAA NATIONAL - DARRINGTON, WASHINGTON

The Darrington Archers as well as the other community members consider it an honor

to host the 1982 NFAA National Championship, July 25-30. With the support of the school district, high school, recreation class, businesses,

forest service, Dept, of Natural Resources and community families we will be ready to lend

I

a hand and to comply with your needs.

The theme chosen for the 37th tournament is, "Tie A Yellow Ribbon", in hopes of

welcoming the archers to the town of Darrington and the state of Washington. Our community supported a Hollywood crew here for three months. The Hollywood

personnel enjoyed the mountain scenery, the warmth and assistance of the town and the community prospered by making new friends and enjoying the fun of learning the film

industry.

We have hosted thousands of people at logging shows, rodeos and our own Blue

grass festivities which are now known nationally. Most of our townspeople are related and all our townspeople are friendly. Together

we can come up with the skills necessary to produce a fine national tournament with a

spirit of fun and kinship, (for us it would be an entertaining and instructional ex

perience to view archers able to split arrows!) The many offerings of the Darrington community are representative of our lifestyle.

We know you will find them fun and practical forms of family entertainment.

Among them are: 1.

Target ranges in a shaded timbered area with moss and fern covering most of the ranges. You will not have to worry about the wind.

2.

A tournament center designed so we can spend most of our time together and still have side trips during the day. We WILL start on time so you will have plenty of free time to spend with family and friends.

3.

A choice of country breakfasts and home cooked suppers at just above our costs.

4.

A family dance with good music for the young people as well as the adults.

5.

Campsites Campsites at at headquarters headquarters with clean restrooms and showers. With rental of motorhomes, trailers and use of Bed and Bath facilities, it appears that Darring ton could house everyone within 6 miles of the town.

6

An area for movies in the evening. (one of the films shown will be NBC’s "High Ice ” with David Janssen. This film was made on the same site as our Archery 'High Ice" with David Janssen. Tournament is to be held. Never fear though the ranges are 500 feet above sea level.)

7.

Fly fishing derby held at trout ponds three blocks from ranges.

8.

The old swimming hole and inner tubing down a quiet part of the river.

WHY NOT TAKE A "CAMPING VACATION" AT THE 1982 (July 25-30) NATIONAL FIELD ARCHERY

CHAMPIONSHIP IN DARRINGTON, WASHINGTON.

SHARE YOUR SPORT One of the benefits of an organization is to achieve results of common

goals through cooperation and support of the members.

You have an out

standing opportunity to receive national television coverage of the N.F.A.A. Nationals.

N.F.A.A. members have spent plenty of hours in

forming others about archery and getting them started in the sport. Now, with a minimal amount of your time, you can really get things

going.

If you’ve watched weekend sports shows lately, you've seen hang gliding championships and ladies arm wrestling, among other limited interest

sports. cast .

It was no accident that these sports competitions were broad

The difference between them and the Nationals is that the net-

works were made aware of the events and that there was an interest by

viewers to watch them.

The N.F.A.A. President can make the networks aware of the Nationals, hut unless there is genuine interest from T.V. viewers, the networks will

refuse to broadcast it.

You can change that!

Write to all three major

networks listed below and tell them you want the Nationals televised. When you take just the couple of minutes to write, you will be taking a

giant step forward in the advancement of archery.

NEW BOWHUNTER CHAIRMAN APPOINTED For the past 25 years I have been an officer of the Ohio Archers. The offices I have held are: District Governor in two separate Districts, Gov-At-Large, Director of Indoor Archery, Director of Hunting, Director of Field Archery, Vice President, President (3 terms), NFAA Director 12 years, and develop er of the very successful Bowhunter Division of Ohio Archers. I reside in Coshocton, Ohio with my wife, Betty. I have three sons: Dan, a manager for Franchise Foods; Bob II, a Catholic Priest in Hong Kong; Steve, a Lawyer in Atlanta, GA. I am employed by the General Electric Co. as a Production Planner. I am proud to have been appointed to this position; it will be a real challenge. My first order of business will be to revive the National Bowhunter Jamboree and promote the present NFAA Bowhunter programs. The second order of business will be to propose new programs and to stimulate interest in the grass root bowhunter in these programs. I have no illusions that this will be an easy job, but with the help of the bowhunters around the country and direction from the Board of Directors I will give it my best shot.

ATTENTION - ARCHERY CLUBS All NFAA affiliated clubs are invited to take advantage of the NFAA INDOOR LEAGUE PROGRAM, as well as any Commercial Indoor Archery Lanes since they are also invited to participate through NFAA affiliation. Like the outdoor range, clubs must have Indoor Range Approval for their shooting facilities. The league program does not require NFAA membership, only that the indoor league program be conducted on an approved indoor range connected with an affiliated chartered club or affiliated Commercial Lanes, using official indoor targets.

We feel this is a good wintertime program to interest people in club membership. Any NFAA chartered association, club or archery lanes may also apply for the OUTDOOR LEAGUE PROGRAM. These sessions are to be conducted on an approved field range, and official targets are to be used. The Outdoor Program can be used any time during the year if weather permits shooting outdoors.

A fee of $3.00 per shooter is charged for both INDOOR or OUTDOOR Leagues. After sanctioning has been received at Headquarters, the League Secretary is sent a packet containing necessary papers — score cards, record sheets, team schedules, weekly achievement award records, patches, etc. -- with instructions on how to run the league. The first three achievement awards are free. Additional awards are available for a fee. Also, a League Championship Pin is provided free for each member of the winning team of these leagues. Write or call NFAA Headquarters to request further league information and sanction forms. Also, see By-Laws Articles VII and VIII of the NFAA Constitution and By-Laws for quick reference.

RULES INTERPRETATION RULES INTERPRETATION COMMITTEE RULING --At the 1981 Outdoor Southern Sectional Tournament a protest was sustained against allowing bows with manufacturer logo appearing in the sight window in the Competitive Bowhunter shooting style.

The ruling made by Arkansas NFAA Director, Doug Hottinger, was referenced to NFAA By-Laws, page 24, which states in part, "There shall be no device, mechanical or otherwise, in the sight window except the arrow rest," and furthermore, "no laminations, marks or blemishes may appear in the sight window." Archers are cautioned that such bows can be accepted only in the NFAA Freestyle and Freestyle Limited divisions of competition.

They are not admissable in any of the NFAA Bowhunter styles.

Signed/ Ervin G. Kreischer, Chairman Rules Interpretation Committee
