Sometimes all it takes is a taste, and we are transported back to simpler times and happy memories. Comfort food, prepared fresh and with care, satisfies a part of our souls. Java & Friends on Main Street in East Greenville offers soulsatisfying homemade goodness.

Andy and April Grossman began the process of purchasing Java & Friends in January of 2020 from previous owner, Carolina Lara. The doors of the newly retooled Java & Friends opened on March 7, 2020. The business is truly a family operation. Andy’s and April’s daughters Joelle and Naomi and niece Jordyn all work at the cafe.

It is also important for April and Andy to give back to the local community. When the shutdown order happened in March, the couple donated surplus food to local charity, Driven By Hope. They support not just first responders, but also the “everyday heroes”, as Andy calls them, such as grocery workers who have continued to work through the pandemic. Facebook followers will see these offers meant just for them as well as daily specials.

No one could have foreseen what lurked just around the corner – and then the state shut down. And so, just a week later on March 14, the doors were closed once more. But the Grossmans focused

Locals and visitors alike are discovering and returning to enjoy the many menu offerings that quickly become favorites. Andy says that the community has been “incredibly receptive” to the new business.
