But when you go inside the showroom, one will happily answer your questions to help you find the car or truck you want. A fourth generation, family-owned business, Quigley Chevrolet offers a car-buying experience unlike others. “I enjoy dealing with people, and I’ve always been into cars. I grew up around them,” said Kevin Miller, an 18-year sales veteran at Quigley. Considering that Kevin’s father Ralph Miller worked as a salesman at Quigley’s for 27 years, he has a valid point. “It’s laid back here,” Kevin said.

Though he’s new to Quigley Chevrolet, Scott Weaver’s sales experience extends back 24 years. He notes a marked difference from most large dealerships because at Quigley’s, each customer works with one salesperson from start to finish. A confessed truck guy who loves to camp, Weaver makes it a point to see how his customers will use their new truck to ensure it has the right features for the intended use. Many of Quigley’s customers are repeats and now, generations later, their grown children and grandchildren have purchased cars from Quigley too. Salesman Mark Hausman has witnessed it time and time again over his 20-year tenure, noting a higher percentage of repeat customers as compared to other dealerships. “We provide exceptional customer service, from sales, to the office, service, and parts,” Hausman said.

Husband and wife team Dave and Maxine Sheaffer toyed with the idea of opening an art studio when serendipity intervened. While driving along East Greenville’s Main Street they noticed a brick store front with its lights on for rent. On a whim they pulled over to take a look and found the building owner had been stood up by a potential tenant. The Sheaffer duo leased the promising space to open Art on Main Studio. DAVE AND MAXINE CELEBRATE THREE YEARS OF FACILITATING THE FUN OF PAINTING CERAMICS, GLASS, SILK, OR CANVAS DURING BOTH OPEN STUDIO HOURS AND PLANNED PAINT PARTIES. CUSTOMERS OF ANY AGE OR SKILL LEVEL CAN ENJOY THEIR WALK-IN STUDIO HOURS TO PAINT WHAT THEY WISH. Armed with her talent, fine arts degree from Tyler School of Art, and experience as an art teacher, and his as a science teacher and art lover, the two guide events for schools, groups, or friends that offer a creative alternative for socialization and instruction. Kids are welcome to express their creativity at summer camp or family events in the spacious, colorful public space that also houses Maxine’s private studio.

If you have not yet visited Art On Main Studio for a scheduled BYOB paint and sip night, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. When you register, you can expect a place set for you with easel, canvas, brushes, paint, and any needed supplies. You’ll join other art enthusiasts as Maxine provides step-by-step guidance and Dave keeps you supplied with paint and paper towels while you create your version of an evening’s selected painting. Then just like every year since you were born, you’re no doubt anticipating the annual tradition of watching or participating in the Hometown Christmas Parade. That’s what it was like growing up for brothers Tom and Dennis when from about 1952 their father Kuraey Spaar ran the parade which then ended in 1989.

Always the first Sunday in December, the Hometown Christmas Parade commences promptly at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Be sure to witness your friends and family, some of Santa’s helpers, horses, llamas, dogs, goats, and other animals as the parade makes its way from Red Hill to Santa Land at St. Mark’s.“All animals and groups of people are invited, so long as they don’t use motorized vehicles,” Spaar said.

With time, Tom and Dennis got to talking and agreed that “It just didn’t feel like Christmas” without the parade, so they reintroduced it. For the last 17 years the Spaar family has kept the tradition alive spearheading the event, with a multitude of volunteers, the hospitality of St. Mark’s in Pennsburg, the fire company and of course, Jolly Old Saint Nick. The Hometown Christmas Parade promises to be a fun and spirited event to get you in the holiday mood. The parade uniquely demonstrates the ingenuity of the people of Upper Perkiomen Valley. “There are a lot of people who make the Hometown Christmas Parade special. Each in their own way, they work hard and take a lot of

Together they’ll traverse the 2-mile route which commences at 400 Main Street in Red Hill along Route 29 through Red Hill, Pennsburg, and a portion of East Greenville to the East Greenville Fire Company. Spectators are sure to see Santa and Mrs. Claus in their sleigh before he stops for photos with children who want to make their Christmas wishes known. As is tradition, Santa’s helpers will give oranges to parade watchers along the route, a tradition to honor Christmases past before refrigeration when to receive an orange was a special treat indeed.
