Can NDIS Help With Psychosocial Disability? ‘Psychosocial Disability’ (PSD) describes the disabilities that may arise due to mental health issues. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has the resources to help improve the lives of those living with psychosocial disability, although many people living with PSD don’t understand what that means, and the supports that are available to them. What is Psychosocial Disability? PSD relates to the social implications of disability and the way your life is impacted upon due to your circumstances. Therefore, those living with PSD may find it hard to organise plans, set goals, and engage in schooling, work and training and other social and community activities.

While psychosocial factors generally influence most types of mental health problems to some degree there are a range of conditions that involve long term psychosocial impacts, including:  Anxiety disorders, including post-traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, agoraphobia, and social phobia.  Schizoid disorders, including schizoaffective disorder and schizophrenia.
