Millburn Diamond Club Rolls Out New Field As Fundraisers Continue

By Stefanie Sears aseball fans can now enjoy games at the new and improved Millburn High School baseball field thanks to the Millburn Diamond Club, the booster club that supports the high school’s baseball program, and the many donations given by friends and family of the baseball program. “We had no covered dugouts before and the back stop that we had was antiquated so for a long time we had wanted to upgrade our facilities,” explains Millburn Diamond Club member Tamara Krikorian, who has been involved with the club for three years since her son was a freshman. The Millburn Diamond Club’s plans for the “Field of Dreams” started almost two years ago, spearheaded by former Millburn Mayor Ted Bourke. Although they are still putting some final touches on

the field, the official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Saturday, April 7. Improvements include dugouts for the home and away teams, a new back stop, new fencing, new bleachers behind home plate creating a stadium feel to enhance spectator experience, and new bullpens for both the home and away teams. “We are all very proud of our new facility and look forward to future generations of baseball players in Millburn enjoying our Field of Dreams,” says Krikorian. To commemorate this update, the Millburn Diamond Club is hosting a few participation Miller ballplayer experiences to continue their fundraising efforts. These include such opportunities as being a bat boy/bat girl, taking part in pre-game warm-ups, throwing out the first pitch, and joining

the team in the dugout for a home game, and practicing with the team on a non-game day. The Miller experience is one of the Millburn Diamond Club’s newest fundraisers. “We love to get the younger kids involved as many of them really look up to the boys in our baseball program so we thought this could be a fun way to have them experi-

ence our Field of Dreams and spend time with the coaches and players while also helping to support our program,” explains Krikorian, “This has been well-received so far so we plan on continuing it next year during baseball season.” The Millburn High School Varsity Baseball team, the “Millburn Millers,” won the State Championship title in continued on page 4
