Mullion, situated on the Lizard Penninsula is a wonderful place to explore, from coastal walks to exhilarating rides on the beach. It truly reflects the character of Cornwall with a landscape crafted by the sea and climate. The parish also includes Mullion Island, a uninhabited island approximately half a mile (0.8 km) offshore from Mullion Cove. The island is home to large colonies of seabirds and is owned by the National Trust. There is plenty to do with access to horse riding, cycling, walking, yoga, swimming and relaxing massages. Today Mullion is the largest village on the Lizard Peninsula and is a centre for local services and amenities as well as a popular tourist destination so well worth a visit.

The beautiful village of Mullion sits on the western side of the Lizard Peninsular, on the South-West Coastal path and is popular with locals and visitors. A 10 minute stroll from the path will take you into the village which boasts a selection of businesses including The Galleon Fish & Chip shop. Owned by the Pollock Family since 2011, The Galleon offers a selection of traditional food from 10am until 8pm. (9pm during July & August) and on Thursdays has a ‘seniors special’ 3 course meal from 11.30am. We are proud to serve good quality products from sustainable sources and use locally grown potatoes and whenever possible we will have a local ‘catch of the day’ and regularly offer ‘specials’.

The village of Porthleven is a fascination all year round, by locals and tourists alike. Its history is outlined by the countless buildings and harbour that have stood the test of time and never fail to accentuate the village, making it possibly one of the most fascinating places in Cornwall. The town clock is one of the focal points in the Village, and is still wound up weekly by the Mitchell family which has been tending to the clock for nearly 40 years. Overlooking the harbour is a new generation of businesses which combine to become the new heart and soul of the village. Award winning Kota is recognised by The Good Food Guide and various other publications, and its sister restaurant Kota Kai boasts a spacious restaurant with top quality food for everyone’s tastes. Chef and owner Jude Kereama brings his New Zealand roots to his dishes, and has been chosen to represent the South West in this year’s Great British Menu. If you pay a visit to the village, why not stay in Kota’s Bed & Breakfast facilities too, a perfect way to spend your trip! Editorial by Bethany Harrington
