FAITH & service Car/Golf Cart Wash

Is your car or golf cart not as clean as you would like? Come to a Car Wash at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 701 Valley Forge Blvd., in Sun City Center on Saturday, October 7 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Rain date will be Saturday, October 14. Donations will be accepted and will be used to benefit AMI kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping troubled youth develop into responsible and productive citizens. Women of Faith Event

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 701 Valley Forge Blvd. in Sun City Center, will be hosting a “Women of Faith” event in the church hall on Tuesday, October 24 beginning at 10 a.m. This is an opportunity for women of all denominations to socialize as well as to learn new information. Fall Festival of Crafts

The 7th Fall Festival of Crafts will take place at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd. in Sun City Center October 14 and 15. There will be a large variety of handmade items for sale that have been created by more than 45 artists and craftspeople. You will have the opportunity to get a head start on your holiday shopping with gifts for everyone including your furry friends. The Council of Catholic Women will have an assortment of breakfast and lunch items available for sale both days and in addition to that will be hosting a bake sale. Beth Israel Sisterhood Plans Opening Meeting

Beth Israel Sisterhood will hold their opening meeting of the 2017-2018 season on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the Henry Gibson Social Hall at the Temple located at 1115 Del Webb Blvd. East in Sun City Center. Our speaker will be Rabbi Carla Freedman, who will take us back to early Judaism as she addresses the topic “Before Patriarchy?” All Sisterhood members and prospective members are invited to join us for what should be a most interesting afternoon. Upcoming Grief Support

We Have Hope as an Anchor for the Soul (Hebrews 6:19) A spiritual and loving support group for those grieving the death of a loved one will begin on Wednesday, September 20, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. We will be incorporating a video from a hospice pioneer, Barbara Karnes RN, as we explore the grieving process. We will also view a video titled “Hope Beyond Today”. Please join us on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10:15 to 11:00 am in the library, beginning September 20 until December 6, 2017. Hope Fund Seeking Volunteers

The Hope Fund is adding a program at a new location in Wimauma and seeks twenty new volunteers to fill the roles of tutors, mentors and readers. Volunteers must commit one hour a week from November to April. Snowbirds in Florida during this period are welcome to join. Details will be provided at an Orientation meeting on October 25 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Wimauma Senior Center, 5714 North Street in Wimauma and volunteers are asked to call Carla Miles (634-4268) to pre-register and reserve a space at this meeting. Samaritans Alzheimer’s Auxiliary

On Friday October 20, 2017, the Samaritans Alzheimer’s Auxiliary Respite Group will have a fundraiser dance featuring the music of Kevin Brooks. This event will be held at SCC Community Hall 1910 S Pebble Beach Blvd. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. Respite is temporary relief when caregiving can be overwhelming. When the caregiver is given some time release they can renew and build other relationships. Everyone wins – the caregivers, the family and the volunteers. Respite is REnewal, SPIritual and TEmporal. Respite provides a break, a relief that volunteers give to a caregiver who is providing constant 24-hour-aday care for someone. Tickets for the fundraiser can be picked up at the Samaritan Services office 1207 N Pebble Beach Blvd., or call 634-9283.
